doesn't seem to bad ! :D

Why is it , i seem to find im like running at the beginning though an invisible wall, but once im past that, i get into my stride and i can just "go"

i come from a cycling background, so i did this run, to what i felt comfortable that i can do for that sort of distance, i had more left in the tank

Running is my favourite mind-clearing exercise, because it's almost free after you have spent a little bit of money on good running shoes - a must as already posted and a few sets of base layers.

At my prime, I was running 10-20 miles a week, on the footpath many years ago now I just do the 5k Parkrun every Saturday when I can because of time constraints, with a current PB of 19:00 which I am still 15s - 25s away from unfortunately as progress slows down.

I find myself doing a lot more running in times of stress and will clock up 10-15 miles on high stress weeks, or just the 3 miles all other times.

Good trainers - especially with gait measurements will do wonders for joint movement and support; from your ankles all the way to your knees, hips and lower back. I am always a bit mindful of new trainers, as sometimes the wearing in stage is uncomfortable for me, but that could be a conditioning issue - if they are properly fitted they should be comfortable for at least the first hour of running.

Well done for taking up running - along with a weight lifting program, you are giving your body a great all round workout. Going at it for over an hour is a fantastic start and shows a good level of initial fitness and endurance.

You will see your distance and your time increase as time goes on, so keep at it!

thanks gamefreak

unfortunately i had to get up weight training, because of a shoulder injury thats still not fully healed

That is gutting, sorry to hear about that. I had a similar issue with my ankle, after sustaining a rugby injury that took 9+ months to heal - my first time running again after this long period was met with trepidation because I didn't want to aggravate the injury again, but I am glad I gave my ankle all that time to sort itself out - though I did go against the Doctors orders and walk on it as soon as I could, which probably contributed to the long healing time but you will get to the stage where you might be able to go back to the lifting once your shoulder has had more time to heal.

Have you had an X-ray on your hip? I suffered from hip pain, mainly across the front, it felt like a rubbing sensation and eventually kept me up at night, aching, (I assumed it was just aches and pains from martial arts), several physios later I was sent to a Rheumatologist and diagnosed with arthritis. Because I'd left it too long I ended up having to have a hip resurface. A lot of lower back and knee pain can be a result of hip issues.

This is borderline of a medical thread now

but, i had an mri scan 3 years ago just normal wear and tear
saw yet another Phisio yesterday who assures me he can help me, ive got no muscles around my right hip, its all bone!! and my glutes are non-existent! and my hamstrings are tight as a rockweillers Jaw!

he said we need to sort out my flexibility and balance issues first then he'll sort of my strength issues

now doing his exercises twice a day and really pushing them as im told :)

going back in 4 weeks or so

got a 5K scheduled in for Wednesday 7th :)
