First time Ryanair..

You've clearly not flown out of Manchester recently!
I have to agree Manchester Ryanair Terminal 3 the last few trips has been awful with people just milling around or crashing out everywhere just very busy and hard to get way from the noise. One of the trips we from Manchester mid afternoon and the whole terminal was dirty with litter everywhere the only place for normal food that was open was the pub and they stopped serving it mid afternoon and then there were horrifically long 40 minute queues for the Costa. There just seemed to be a lack of staff!
I think there are more seats available upstairs near the lounge now and the last time we went the Italian cafe was open but you are still in a busy open plan bit of the terminal. Still it is no where near the worst airports have flown from.

They're fine but their planes can be quite old and you can notice. Most people complain about the extra charges for bags and seat selection etc but if you know what these are in advance and accept them that's not a big issue. Apart from that I've never had a problem with them at all.
Average fleet age of just over 9 years - about 5 years lower than the market average.

Ryanair is just an airline. Boarding pass online, check in, fly, get off.

Stansted is quite a nice airport now, I would take it over Luton, or somewhere like Manchester any day.

Thanks guys.
Make sure you print your boarding pass in advance, you definitely don't want to be messing around with that at Stansted
Hmn, no access to a printer until I fly now. Will try to check-in and see what the options are. Are there no machines for checking in/printing passes?
Enjoy your 'priority' boarding - alongside about 75% of the passengers :D
I figured that much:p

Last time I flew from Stanstead I was off the train and through security in about 15 minutes. Very impressive compared to previous experiences. Plenty of food options through security, so no need to bother with in flight meal options. I don’t mind buying a brew on low cost airlines.

As @Lopéz has said - it’s just an airline. Their planes are quite new, you buy a ticket and get on the plane. Paying €70 at the gate if your bag is too big isn’t a “fine”, it’s a charge that you should have anticipated when bringing a bag that’s too big.

The fast track through security is worth it.

For flights back to SW France, priority boarding means you just get to stand nearer the gate door in a dank, airless holding area.

Check your cabin bag is the correct size... You might get away with one a teeny bit too big, but if the gate staff are eagle eyed...
I got hit with a 70€ charge because my bag was about 2 inches too tall.. And most of that was the strap on.

Tell me more

My first and only experience of flying with Ryanair was about 6 years ago.

I was flying alone so not bothered about seating, and just sat where allocated, towards the rear of the plane.

There was a commotion up front. A big family group, none of whom had paid to sit together (from what I gathered) were demanding to sit together and refusing to sit in their allocated seats.

The airline staff came along the aisle asking people to move. Understandably, people who had paid to sit together were unwilling to be split up.

Eventually they found people willing to move and there was a rush to take off before missing the air traffic control slot.

I kid you not, if I'd seen some of these people with live chickens in their arms, I would not have batted an eyelid.

RyanAir has a market unto itself, and that's fine. The CEO once raised the idea of a 'standing section' at the back of the plane, no less...
