First-Timer Holidays Abroad

Heard the old town was the quieter part?

Yes completely different to other part so not for me/us :)
We now stay in a hotel that is 50 yards from Morgans Tavern (Neptunes in the Benidorm series) which means we are smack bang in the middle of all the entertainment.
In the day we'll go for a walk and end up by a Rock Bar by the beach and get canned on Newcastle Brown, in the evening we choose one Bar, sit back and watch six live artists while getting canned on Newcastle Brown.
Our other holidays are a bit more sedate but we always do a week in Benidorm.
We don't do sunbathing or sitting around a pool.

Try the North of Cyprus so much nicer than the South.
Less touristy, cheaper, unspoilt. Bit like going back in time and has a lovely pace of life there.
You won't find a McDonalds here just lots of local places, great history and lovely places to visit.

I was in Kyrenia in April. Very nice and cheap!

Every year up until around 2017 I told my wife and Sister in Law that I'm never going to Benidorm.
They went behind me and my Brother in Laws back and booked it.
We've been every year since then (except a couple during Covid) and going later this year.
One of the best holidays ever for us.

We also go all over the place so this year we've also been to Lanzarote and Menorca.
It mainly sounds like you go to Spanish places

What's going to happen exactly? I've been visiting yearly for the best part of 20 years.
Your information is way off, not sure why you think the British Embassy there would ignore you.
I am from there.. There's been multiple times when people from the UK(or elsewhere) were arrested for whatever reason and their case was on the news because they were trapped.. asking for intervention from whoever could offer it.
It is also not a country so there's no embassies to begin with nor formal communication channels established.

There's also countless criminals from Europe or elsewhete who retire or operate from there as there's no extradition and the "authorities" don't care.

Wasn't there a Turkish guy arrested in the UK for fraud.. Then got extradited back to Turkey.. Then he miraculously escaped to the north of Cyprus, and surprise surprise no one can do anything about it. Was front page in the newspapers in the UK at the time.

And you haven't addressed the fact that you are holidaying on illegally occupied land and allowing the occupation to continue. But hey, as long as its cheap and nice right?

I hear Crimea is cheap and nice, maybe add it to your list.

Yeah I don't care really. It's a lovely country, like I said there are numerous Embassies there including a British one. We have a Rebuild of Northern Cyprus one here in London as well so not sure why your saying we have no communication, we had plenty when we were arranging to get married their.

All over the place:
Sorrento, Rome, Malta, Cyprus, Vienna, Salzburg, Berlin, Cairo, Luxor, Hurghada, Sharm, Poland, Portugal, Tunisia, Isle of Wight, Bournmouth and we've just come back from Glasgow and so on, just this year we've done 3x Spanish because the wife got them very very cheap.

Cheap you say... how cheap? I've seen a few priced around £500 recently.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this topic but the missus has just received her first passport and we've booked a holiday next year to Alcudia in Majorca. I was wondering where to book next, any suggestions for Europe? I've been pondering over Santorini in Greece, Sliema in Malta etc.
Malta is nice but iirc, the area around Sliema only has 1 small beach that's sandy, all the rest of it is rocky & not great for sunbathing etc. You can just jump on a bus & find nicer beaches though and it doesn't take long to get around as it's not that big an island.

Yes the two earlier this year were £500, Benidorm is around £600.
Because my wife is retired it's all she does all day finding places for us to go.

So far this year we have done :
Glasgow
Bournemouth
Liverpool
Menorca
Lanzarote

Coming up are :
Cardiff
Gloucester
Eastbourne
Benidorm
Llandudno

I also need to add that everywhere we go abroad we always do All Inclusive, yes I know people think of it as Chavvy but it's perfect for us.
It means we can eat & drink as much as we want and we definitely get our moneys worth, we will then also go out for meals and drinks if we want.

A proper holiday is a great test of a relationship. Get through one first without killing each other and your onto a winner.
Know and knew couples who took went on different holidays on their own as they have conflicting interests. One example is dad's cousins. She likes to explore the area, sample the local cuisine. Whilst her husband sits by the pool and doesn't eat 'foreign muck'.

Before 9/11, they both went to the airport together as he booked his holiday. She went to see what flights were available about an hour after his flight. Went to the sales desk, bought a ticket for somewhere and booked hotels, trains etc when got to the destination.

Was with my ex for 2 years, went to a few countries.

Our final holiday was to Turkey/Türkiye last year. We missed our flight.......we broke up 6 weeks after....
