**First User impressions of Leadex Superflower PSU.**

Just received my Leadex Gold 850w.

No UK power lead again  and the braid on the motherboard connector finishes half way down the cable... :) (Slight exaggeration)

Other than that the unit reeks quality in it's feel and weight. Will fire it up later and post some pics of it lit up.

Pros.

  • Impressive build quality
  • Decent amount of cables
  • White LED lights in connectors
  • Silent in Eco mode the fan never span up running benchmarks
  • 5 year Warranty hopefully all of it with OCUK as China is a fair way otherwise
  • Plenty of Amps on the 12v line

Cons.

  • No UK power lead included
  • The crystal plugs into the PSU are a bit of a pain to remove if you have big fingers with a few connected
  • The LED lights cannot be turned off which might annoy some
  • The braid finishes miles to early leaving a mess of wires exposed on the ATX connector
  • In auto mode the fan is actually louder than anything else in my case at idle. Not loud by any means but noticeable.

This is a very nice PSU it's heavy and feels a quality unit. Looking inside and everything looks well made and some quality components have been used. For me It's not quiet as nice as the higher end Be-Quiet units but then it's not in that price bracket. 850W with 72A on the 12v line for £99 is a bargain.

I've got this PSU in the 1000W Black, I totally love the PSU, however,...
in Auto (not normal) mode, It sounds like any other normal PSU, to be honest.

You can hear the motor, the air being pulled and blown throw, terrible when you fall asleep, can wake you up, the ECO Mode, on the other hand, is bloody great.
If I fall asleep in Eco mode, I'm not waking up at all by any noise.

I was going to take a photo of it, however, I've an NZXT Noctis 450 case and the PSU is hidden from view with the PSU shroud.

Here's the back of the PC showing the ECO + Auto modes, so I gather you guys are calling the Auto mode Normal mode?.

The only thing bothering me when it's in Auto mode,... Isn't auto meant to mean It'll cut the fan off and on when it feels the need?

If that's the case, mine doesn't cut in and out in Auto mode... it's just spinning 24/7 unless I switch to ECO Mode.

So my question is.. why are they calling it AUTO Mode when It doesn't actually Automate anything at all or is It supposed to, or just wrong choice of wording by the manufacturer?

I'm happy with the PSU, totally, I'm just somewhat confused with the word Auto, as it doesn't Automate anything.

8Pack 2000w for benching is a 2500w monster....

My 8Pack 2500W PSU is still going strong and has not let my QuadFire system down once!
The only bad thing about it is the fan is the loudest noise on my system when it's under light load or the system is sitting idle.

Is the 8Pack PSU EOL now? Don't see it for sale last i checked.

I wonder what the future for these massive PSUs is with desktop CPU TDPs dropping year on year and Nvidia strangling the SLI market..

Still it's a thing of beauty (of sorts).
