fishbone stuck in throat

Go to a doctor. Seriously. They will remove it carefully. You risk damaging your throat if its not going away by itself. It's more dangerous than most people realise.

It's not hurting me, it's just annoying that I can't do anything about it myself.

I just thought there might be something I can eat/drink that will make it go away, I know I can go to a doctor but if it isn't needed I'd rather not do it as I'm at work now.

It will go away by itself man, really don't worry, try clearing your throat a bit but dont over do it as that will probably hurt more.

I was given some great advice from a crazy person: if you ever eat fish (often happens in Japan) and get a fishbone stuck in your throat, quickly eat some rice. That’ll get rid of the fishbone. It works!

Just found that on the web for you, not sure if it works or not given that it was advice from a 'crazy person'

OR

Suck the juice from half a lemon to dislodge it.

But.. only do this if you can take pictures while you're doing it :p

Good luck

Edited to say : the rice thing appears repeatedly if you google for it.

I was eating salmon a couple weeks ago and got a bone stuck in my throat. It scared the **** out of me. I couldnt dislodge it and I could feel the sharp pain where it was lodged. Tried bread, drinks nothing would do it and I felt like I was chocking.

I ended up sticking my finger down my throat and managed to dislodge it and swallow it before the gag relex to puke took over :(.

You can imagine I didnt finish my fish after that...

Just a question now, but "How dangerous are fishbones?". As far as I can see they stand little chance of doing any major damage.

Are you perhaps getting muddled up with chicken bones?

OMG@ some people on this thread, no wonder our ambulance and hospital staff are always stretched. I once burnt the skin off my whole arm with burning hot toffee fresh from the stove, i didn't go to hospital, i kept it in some cool water for a few hours, little bit of cream, and a bandage, sorted. I was 6 years old.

Talk about over reacting.

You've said it's small, so just keep eating bread or food along those lines, something that may move the bone.

If it doesn't move soon, or it becomes really uncomfortable, or you start having real difficulties, THEN phone your local GP or hospital and just expain to them what's happening and ask if there's anything you can do, if you've done all that they have suggested, then give them a visit.
