Fitting shower base

In the end I pulled it all down and ordered 20 20mm marmox boards to board three of the walls. two walls are outside walls so should help keep the room warmer. The stud wall was 20mm deep so wanted to make it easier to line up with the door frame.

Re did the stud as one was warped, adding noggins for the shower frame. Room wasn't 100% square so the board on the brick wall go onto the shower, stud wall butts up to the base. Then used silicon to seal the gaps. I have a mapei tanking kit to fully waterproof it.

As it is now, wiring and feed for electric shower. 'Plural of dab'(avoiding the competitor filter) of adhesive are in position behind the wall for the shower and rail fittings so hope to have no issues fitting. I used to dot and dab method as the wall wasn't completely true.

So finally got there. All walls are marmox 20mm

then I've tiled or plastered them. The plastering is ok but quite difficult on cement boards as I didn't want too thick a layer. The white finishing skim is repairs I've had to make but will look fine once sanded and painted.

The shower is a Mira 10kw and works very well.

Next job is getting a new ceiling and 3mm boarding the floor and finishing

Any reason you're only using 3mm for the floor? I'd use 6mm if it's a sound solid floor, 12mm if it's not. For the price difference between 3 and 6mm, I'd put the 6 down personally.

Sorry. It's only over boarding 3mm panels for a vinyl floor cover. Joists aren't thick enough for tiles.

Excellent work with the marmox, looks very neat. And I love the big grey tiles and mosaics (lined up centrally, jolly good).

Why the electric shower out of interest? Couldn't you have pumped the feeds or gone from the combi (if there is one)? Even the best electric shower is truly dire compared to a gravity-fed pumped / unvented / combi shower. If you're upgrading the heating system in the house then that might have been worth bearing in mind when installing the bathroom.

How are you going to cover the bath tap entry holes? Do they have chrome trim or something? Can't tell for sure but why didn't you drill circular holes in the mosaics then silicone a neat white bead round the taps?

Where you re-did the studs...do the studs screw to brickwork? What are those flappy-vented things behind the studs? Never seen those and just wondering if the studs can be screwed directly to them.

Flappy things is lathe and plaster :D. It's an internal wall so that's the backside of a plastered wall. The stud was screwed to existing stud simply to support the edges of the marmox. The marmox also will act as a great insulator as the other 2 walls are external. (Strangely they are cavity walls on a 1902 build )

Drilling /nibbling the mosaics around taps is on the to do list. There is chrome trim but I plan to do it like you have said. I have Mapei grey sealant to match the grout so should look neat.

Electric shower was alternative to a gravity feed pump. The boiler is 6 years old so didn't want to change it. I know its not for everyone but it works well and never have to worry about hot water.
