Flame Weed Killer

No you need to put the sodium chlorate on when the plant is whole as it chemically burns the organic matter. You could try a power scythe then collect up all the scrub and burn it or a flail mower. If you go for a strimmer/brushcutter you will probably be better off getting one with a metal blade for the scrub and use a mower on the grass bit. HSS do all of the stuff mentioned.

Once it’s all cut down just keep mowing it, it will slowly all return to grass.

As for the foxes lead works well. ;)

You'd be better off hiring a decent lawnmower such as the Honda HRX537HME.

Put it on the highest setting and you'll be done in half an hour.

Then leave it a week or two and then 'KILL IT WITH CHEMICALS'

Hiya. sorry to ask a question unrelated to the subject but theres one thing i want to know.

I'm thinking of going to kingston uni, and i would like to know if its a nice place. plus is it a good place for going out? any chavs around? thefts?

Finally my time to shine, homebase garden centre employee, BOO YAH..

Same here :( :p

p.s dont use round-up, use weedol or glyphosphate more powerful :)

Or petrol + a match = burn baby burn ;)

I do have a nice powerful lawnmower... but at the back its all paving and flowerbeds, so it won't work well there at all.

I can't spray the sodium stuff without clearing it first, because I can't actually get to the back :p

As far as Kingston Uni is concerned, the area is actually very nice, and as any place there are chavs, but not really where I live. I will point my friend (fini) towards this thread, and he may be able to inform you better (he goes to Kingston Uni).

It will work fine. Put it on the highest setting and off you go.

I do this type of work everyday and this would be the easiest way for you.

P.S when I mean a decent lawnmower I mean £1000+ for a push mower not your £350 B&Q type lawnmower.

Oh, then its not decent... I was comparing it to our old electric flymo :p

/Edit: Won't it damage the blades it you hit rocks etc?

Just wondering if anyone in the Kingston Upon Thames area has a flame weed killer I could borrow for the weekend. My front and back gardens are jungles - we even have a family of foxes (I think there are 5 of them), living in back!

Deodorant + lighter = Flame weed killer.

Depends what course and campus I guess - Kingston Hill or Penrhryn Road are both great (though Penrhyn Road still needs doing up). If you're going to live in halls do nottt live anywhere, but Kingston Hill. If you must live in another halls then Seething Wells is the only one that you wont regret living in, but even then you'll be spending most your time bussing it up to Kingston Hill.

If you're wanting to do law @ Kingston then it's a great uni (that's what I'm doing) - really practical and the lecturers are actually still interested in the subject.

If you're wanting to do computing (just guessing as you're on this forum) then I've heard of some people getting a little bit miffed at some lecturers being utter idiots, but then there's also some lecturers that people love.

Nightlife you have a couple of main options: Works, Oceana, McCluskys, go into London. There's a night bus back to Kingston from London. Works is good up until Christmas each year, but only on student nights, whilst Oceana is packed every night, but plays crap music and is chavland.

Thefts, AFAIK Kingston's a very safe place generally. It's got a visible police force at night, but it never gets rough (generally very good atmosphere) and there's a Hospital on the way up Kingston Hill.

For me, what I love is having London so close - spent lots of time popping into London for all sorts of things. Kingston itself has lots to do, lots of green areas and, lots of pubs by the river to drink at on nice summer days.

I'm just about to go into my third year and I'm loving it at Kingston - would recommend it to anyone.

EDIT: If you do go to Kingston you owe me a drink - this post took far to long to type.

If you want to plant there anyway just rent a rotovator/cultivator over the coloured areas a few times, it will chew up the weeds so you can rake out any roots and also be ready for plants :D

Pics of the baby foxes tbh.

I've got nothing against foxes in general, but these ones should die! They go and kill birds and leave their remains... raid our bin and make weird screaming noises in the middle of the night (it actually sounds like someone is being murdered)!

Your fault for letting your garden become the kind of environment that they would set up home in.

Tidy up the garden, let them move on and make mor ebaby foxes :)
