Flashforward

The other thing with the crow database was the timescale.

Now I thought that we were about a week or two after the blackouts but the timescale on the graph implied that it was two or three months - they all died in October (6th I think) but population slowly growing back into December.

In the previous shot there was the scene showing the airport with planes litered all over and some buildings still seem to be steaming, yet people have time to maintain databases on crows.

Don't get me wrong I am enjoying it but come on!

I was enjoying it but this dead crows/thing in the sky stuff gave it a distinct whiff of polar bear crap if you get my drift. Disappointing.

I hate when they write disbelieving retarded characters just for the sake of it.

THe woman in this ep, we can't even consider letting him out, not even if it does save billions of lives? you what, what kind of utter retarded nonsense is that.

Then he comes up with dead birds and says it will help, ok theres no real reason he couldn't have sounded sincere, he was all but laughing as he told them. But he genuinely does know it has something to do with it, they had the nazi guy react as he did just to sell the idea it was BS just to get out, problem is the nazi guy knows thats not the case, his reaction was stupid.

But again the woman, gets this information, has to type 3 words, its her damn job, but every single letter she's complaining about checking out a lead. Law enforcement types check hundreds or seemingly retarded leads, in reality she'd have no problem checking, and in the show, she would be desparate to get something out of the nazi being released so her character should have been looking up anything to do with crows willingly.

As said, it started off feeling like a new "lost" and still feel's like thats the path its heading down. Ok, the drowing in the urinal and mouth to mouth thing, was superb, but thats about it so far.

These shows just end up frustrating as hell, why haven't they sat his kid down and asked her to tell them exactly what she saw now, rather than in dribs and drabs.

I love OcUK for this kind of thing.

I swear to god you guys can't enjoy anything... at all... ever.

I wouldn't have minded if they hadn't started doing stupid stuff like counting crows. I am prepared to suspend disbelief for the premise of the show - weird time travelly visions. I'm not prepared to accept that someone can count all the crows in the world at the press of a button. That's stupid.

That and the fact that only one old German in prison noticed that there were dead crows everywhere, and no other animals?

The problem I found with this episode is that we didn't get any answers.

With Lost they would give you some answers and then some more questions. With this it was like "We are going to give you some answers...oh actually no we are not, but we will give you some more questions". I personally do not find frustration all that much fun.

Plus when did the tower actually appear in Africa, 1991 or 2009, because you would think a 300ft tower suddenly appearing in a village in Africa would get some media coverage and investigation over 18 years.

What I don't get about the whole premise of flashforwards is that if you flashforwarded to 6 months from now, wouldn't you be flashforwarding to a time where you already knew that you'd flashforwarded to that date?

For example, if I had a flashforward now and I knew the date and the time that that flashforward takes place in, couldn't I then wait for that date once I was back in the present and instead of doing what I'd done in my flashforward just stand in front of a mirror and wave at myself? And wouldn't that mean my original flashforward would in fact been of me waving at myself in the mirror?

I suppose my point is with prior knowledge of when the flashforward is going to occur, would it not be next to impossible just to carry on as though you didn't know your past self was watching?

Wibbily-Wobbely timey-wimey!

Its a rubbish series, its a calculated premise, (extremely hyped in every advertisment I've seen) to string the audience along and almost force them to watch till the end.

This is where the script writers have to be very careful or Sci-Fi nuts will revolt.
If you believe time is linear, then therefore for flashforwards to happen, that future MUST happen or the universe ends (Paradox if you know to change what you did, the flashforward can't have happened, therefore you can't have know to do something different).
If on the other hand you believe in parallel universes, these flash forwards could be a jump to a possible future, therefore you could change things, but then what is the point in the flashforward.

I suppose my point is with prior knowledge of when the flashforward is going to occur, would it not be next to impossible just to carry on as though you didn't know your past self was watching?

Or anyone who saw nothing thinking they are going to die, could just make sure that just before the time, they put a paper bag over their head, therefore they see blackness :D

I swear, I was enjoying the first couple of episodes.

However I am getting this feeling that the story could be going down the pan. I don't mind a bit of inconsistency but a dieing crows database?

The constant reminder of the main characters alcohol problem in the past and what he saw in his future is starting to annoy me. Instead of making me wonder what will happen it is just annoying me every time a scene is shown which makes reference to it.

The acting is quite bad, the cast are just not clicking very well at all. Compared to the likes of 24 or heroes there seems a lack of quality in acting.

While I do hate Sky One I am starting to wonder why this series wasn't snapped up by Sky One, they normally firmly grip on to any good series with both hands.

I can only hope the story gets better.

I watched last night's ep and then checked the internet database for dead crows, it reported that Ep3 was a bit "meh" and as a result of me watching, 38 crows died last night.
