Flight Ban for refusing X-Ray

Yep, this is why people who work in hospitals always leave the room when you get an x-ray. :)

They do this in Dentist also ;)

Thats for repeat exposure anyway, once/twice a year isn't going to do much if anything at all

Like I said above, unless you have something in your body that might get affected by the X-Ray in some way...then meh. Take the damn X-Ray, or bend over

As said, she refused a security check hence she was not allowed to fly.

Regardless of religious or other beliefs, if you do not comply with the T&Cs, you do not fly. Simple.

The odds of someone having a bomb on a plane is about a million to one..

The odds of two different people, that dont know each other, both having a bomb on the same plane is about a trillion to one

Thats why i always carry a bomb with me! :D

(history teacher told me that joke)

Devils advocate but ..

If a airline decided that all it's passengers had to say out loud the line 'Jesus deserves to rot in hell' before it let passengers on - to weed out Christian fundermentalists .. would that be acceptable ...?

I would be ok with this also. How it would route out drugs mules and terrorists is another thing altogether.

you do know that we all get born naked right?

its not as though NOBODY will ever have seen this before. do they object to maternity staff in the same way?

some places probably still do strip searches. this is nowhere near as degrading...

Yeh that is clearly relevant?

Strip searches have different rules and require police officers. They have substantial paperwork to go with them to ensure they are justified. This is a strip search without accountability.

One area complaints are coming from is that of children. Children have even stricter strip search and even body search rules. This bypasses them in ever way.

Why not instead of taking off shoes, everyone just undress and walk through? After all, who cares if people see you naked.

The infection thing. Probably from watching House too much, but doesn't full body radiation destroy the immune system? Obviously airport scanners aren't that extreme, but it must have some effect on the immune system.

The radiation you're exposed to during the scan is equivalent to 2 minutes of flight time at 35,000 ft.

can't find the bbc article atm though.

Unless the pedo is into unrecognisable ghost porn then it's not an issue.

i guess my issue is with the x ray machine, they are trying to distort the genitalia... however, this removes their ability to detect people who are crotch stuffing or back 'packing' things where the sun dont shine...

given how these are 2 extremely common methods of carrying substances like drugs- i would have thought this transferable to other items they dont want you to carry too..

thus the scanner is actually pretty useless for most applications and is easily abusable.

Who is going to want a ghostly image of my nut sack anyway?

Non issue for me. Hhmmm have someone take a scan of my body and get a ghostly image of my wang or have some terrorist blow me up mid air and smash into a sky scraper? The choice, I just can't make my mind up!

i have nothing to hide and i have a problem with being body scanned.

next they will have them installed at the primary schools.... you just wait for it..

To stop knife crime etc. In fact I'd like to see which is the bigger problem in terms of actual deaths.

Introduce them at train stations, tube stations, every public building etc. Because they all have more crime than on planes.

Do you have a problem with the metal detectors?

Anyway it's a private company they can say you must blink your ticket number in Morse code if they like.

Why primary schools?

Inner city high schools possibly but then metal detectors have been used there in the states for a long time, which if things did get that bad is what they'd use as they're considerably cheaper.

Nothing to hide? no problem being scanned. There should be T&C's when purchasing flights that you must agree to take a full body scan if asked. (IMO everyone should have one, OK queue but would be much better for security).

If you have a problem with being scanned, dont fly. If you want to fly, get body scanned. Simple.

Otherwise whats stopping terrorists from saying its due to religious reasons? Good on them! They're finally stepping up.

These are different. They aren't looking for concealed explosives.

And I presume you'd also be OK with a compulsory full cavity search every time you get on a bus, or go to the cinema?

After all, there's a chance in a squillion it could also stop a terrorist bomb .. ?

that is the other thing to bear in mind, flight on a commercial airline is not an EU designated human right.. its a complete luxury item that you can purchase... or you can leave it...
