Flight Checklist

I've never seen a ytravel insurance company care about citizenship, only your place of residence. But insurance form a chinese travel insurance company.

Every single insurer I checked on moneysupermarket.com said you need to live in the UK for at least 6 months in the year in order to qualify.
And World Nomads said they wouldn't insure me against losses in the UK since I'm from the UK :/

Are you coming from Shanghai to the UK?

Chinese customs don't like umbrellas in hand luggage, and are suspicious of almost any kind of battery - my case got intercepted and hand searched because of a single AAA battery.

Nerd alert, but I created a Google sheets for travel packing. Very useful actually.

When I started travelling for work I found it incredibly stressful, so having a list you can keep going back to and update really helps.

As suggested you should go for a policy from China. One that cover medical costs within the UK plus repat to China in the event of medical emergency.

A photocopy of your passport in case it's stolen.

All liquids to be in marked 100ml (or less) containers in a small clear bag (there are specific maximum dimensions for the bag too but I forget what they are).

On a long haul flight pretty sure the OP will have hold luggage so just whack all liquids in that case. No need to worry about the 100ml rule at all then.
