Flight Simulators in VR

Not managed to play DCS yet, the registration screen doesnt appear to work and for some crazy even when selecting the none VR version to try and setup it launches in VR, maybe try again later.

War thunder is OK, the VR experience is no way near the likes of Elite Dangerous but still playable but does feel like VR was an afterthought.

Try IL-2 BoS/BoM. It also has a convoluted registration process, but once you're in, you're in.

Honestly, I can't believe how good it is in VR. I absolutely hated the original game back in the early 2000s, but this...this is something special. It has a few minor flaws, but I'm itching to get back into the cockpit when I get home. I got it on the recent Steam sale, would gladly have paid full price.

Now that looks cool. Basically the opposite of the glider sim I was looking for, but reminds me of one of my favourite games "Slipstream 5000".

Something like 'slipstream 5000' or 'F-Zero GX' would be excellent in VR.

There's a few like that in the steam store, mainly indy stuff.

Check out Vector 36, Thick Air, and something coming, Ultrawings, which matches up to the glider sim you're after.

As a sim player myself, the first game I downloaded were

X-Plane 11 with the additional purchase of Fly Inside to add the VR aspect, it's much better than FSX with improved gfx and flight model
DCS 2, very complicated and hard to get to grips with each of the planes, but goof fun none the less
War Thunder, great fun, though do find after playing for more than 30 minutes constantly looking around checking for planes on my six and lots of air combat manoeuvres that my stomach starts to turn a bit.

I've had access to the private VR beta of XP11 for about a week now, but it was under NDA. :)

The touch implementation in XP11 is pretty good, much prefer changing the dials by touch controllers rather than with a mouse. My major gripe with it is a lack of performance, raising the number of world objects destroys the frame rates.

Warthunder for arcade level fun and free.
IL2 for good ww2 action. Does the combat well, but somehow left me cold for the flying aspect.
With X-plane on sale, tried that a couple of days ago. Sounds really promising, with lots of accuracy on navigation and also has "world" maps. Can't say I was impressed when I tried it. The flight model in it's helicopter felt like an arcade game after DCS
DCS still for me. Aircraft from ww2 to F15s. Awesome feeling of accuracy. Not cheap if you go in big style, and the maps, whilst individually big, only cover smallish areas of the world. 2.2 has seen big improvements in performance and 2.5 is due out in a month. I'm currently flying helicopters, ww2 and jets. Pretty much stopped playing anything else, I love it so much.

It doesn't look like the current X-Plane demo has the beta VR support, at least I can't find a demo version that does. :(

I did get DCS World demo working in VR, and that was amazing, flying the P51 especially. I had a pleasure flight in a Chipmunk a few years ago, where I even got to fly the plane for a few mins :D and this brought that experience right back. It was uncannily similar.

If you still have the demo installed, run the installer in that folder, and tick the beta option. Let it update. That should give you VR, assuming it'll let you do that update. It might be asking for the license key:(

Just had a quick go of the VR xplane and I like it, not sure how it would be for a long flight but the implementation is really well done. Flew a cessana and just leaned and clicked the autopilot buttons and dials, very cool :)
