Floating bed - rediculously cool

I want to make a levitating coil, you know where you get a big coil of copper wire then have it hover by pushing a high current through it.

Look up “ion wind” there’s a few home experiments you can try.

Levitating coil is just too much I’m afraid.

I also want a railgun.

Magnets be fun.

Prepare to spend a lot of money on batteries as you need some that can dump their charge all at once without exploding!!!

or just use flash capacitors

If your bedroom is above your kitchen, wouldn't your washing machine be clamped to the ceiling ?

Could be good for pan storage :D

Hmm strong magnets have all sorts of side effects and the full effect of them on the human body isn't totally understood.

I can see lot's of issues with the bed, not least that it will wipe all credit cards close to it, stop computers working, stop CRT tubes working and stop watches and clocks working. I don't know about you lot but I leave my wallet, my alarm clock a computer and a TV close to my bed.

so scores: Practiality 0, Coolness 10

I've always fancied a bed similar to that but suspecded from the celing by wires. I'll have one in my multi million pound custom build beachside property when I'm a multi millionaire. Till then I'll have to make to with an IKEA special like the rest of you :(

How often have you lain in bed at night, cursing the fact that the very piece of furniture upon which you are resting your weary head is somehow despoiled by its crude and ugly legs that rest on the floor?
Well, fret no more. A Dutch architect has designed a floating bed which hovers 40cm from the floor, thanks to a couple of powerful magnets, doing away with the need for clunky and outmoded legs. Just what the above average Über geek needs.

Best paragraph I have read all day :D

(I just woke up :) )

I guess you could have posts with magnets in them which stops it shooting off.

wouldnt you be pretty ****** if you had a power cut?

Stelly

I think it would be more funny if you we laying on it during a power and suddenly the power comes back on. You'd be sent flying towards the ceiling.
