when i read the thread title i kind of assumed it would be some kind of hovercraft type thing

I flip my highly expensive mattress every three weeks to stop rutts and stuff forming from all the sex I get with my hot girlfriend.William said:Last time I heard of people flipping matresses was to avoid the Nazis. :-/

Freefaller said:Nope. There have been many studies showing that magnetic fields can cause strange cell degeneration. Certainly in kids. Obviously only in long exposure and at high levels - however it's still not the best idea having big magnetic currents pulsing through you for 8hrs every night I wouldn't have thought.
Any exposure to radiation in high quantities and for prolonged periods is not going to do anyone any good. It's just common sense.

aardvark said:lol - it would have to be a pretty crappy implant if its magnetic - then again, knowing the cash straped NHS, implants could be made of iron![]()
aardvark said:do you have a link freefaller?
the evidence i've seen is still in the early stages so nothing definite can be said as of yet (and its all statistical, no real scientific data), but i think its only a matter of time before there is a solid link with a detrimental effect - all atoms are affected by strong magnetic fields - the effect is subtle but it doesn't take a giant leap to realise that even small efects can give unpredictable changes in a larger system.
as far as i know thats the stance that the heath and safety authority takes - there is no direct link but it would be strange if there wasn't an effect with very high electromagnetic fields, so its considered hazardous until its proven safe.
this is only for very high fields though - i often wonder if they will find a link with lower power electromanetic fields, like mobile phones (maybe they will be the cigarettes of the 21st century)

ElRazur said:I have always thought that the long term effect of electromagnetism is unknown? i guess things have moved on, if you dont mind point me to a link please, in the mean time i gonna google about. Thanks.
EDIT
Initial research suggests im wrong.
Seriously EM waves of any kind with the right power can be devastating to our organic carcasses.Barbie said:Could you overclock it?

Oops, I see you've done some research too - you see there is more to it than you would think.Seriously EM waves of any kind with the right power can be devastating to our organic carcasses.
