Returned from work today and my baby is wet :(

Water went over half way up the wheel and roughly to the top of the caliper , covering as high as fog lights. When the rain stopped after a couple of hours on opening the door there is a good 2 inches in the foot well and under the seat still. I have opened the engine bay and can see puddles of water still sitting in there as it was upto the rad as well.
As you can see it is higher on the pavement side and it went up as high as the top of the fog light which is well above the bottom of the door and its soaked inside :( :( :(

Sorry to see that mate!! I've been reading the articles and watching the videos regarding this sudden change in weather and its quite dramatic!

You going to be claiming on the insurance?

Weren't you selling this?

I guess you'll have to claim off insurance. I guess the carpet will be stained and electrical sensors may not work.

I've called the insurance company and they are calling back to arrange an assessor to come out, They told me on the phone to get comparables as this kind of thing normally leads to a write of due to the car and costs involved.

When my dad went to move it before it got to that stage above he said when he put the keys in the ignition and turned it once the lights came on a fizzled out, trying it now the lights are coming on and staying on but knowing that's happened once makes me think it will be a car that has issues after

forgive my ignorance, but providing it hasn't been driven through this weather, then it shouldn't be a problem?

Plenty of wiring can be low down on the car which could turn faulty further down the line. Oil/gearbox sensors, ABS sensors under the seats etc and even the lambda sensors on the exhaust have now been submerged for some time.

Depends what the water contained. Could well have raw sewage inside it now.

Looks like your time would be better spent building an ark than taking photos

It would appear you didn't spend your time reading the post !

I didn't take any external photos as I was at work till 12 and it had disappeared then, the last photo a neighbour sent.

The insurance company are sending a collection company as going by the photos its written off :( She is now looking for some with the same mileage for an offer etc.

With two inches of dirty water in the bottom, it's going to stink in fairly short order. It'll be a pig to get it out as well. It may well still work, and be drivable, but it's gonna hum like a bin lorry.
