Flooded car

It would appear you didn't spend your time reading the post !

It would appear your sense of humour has sustained some damage in the flooding ;)

I didn't take any external photos as I was at work till 12 and it had disappeared then, the last photo a neighbour sent.

The insurance company are sending a collection company as going by the photos its written off :( She is now looking for some with the same mileage for an offer etc.

You don't surprise me. The interior will be ruined and that's before you even get to electronics.

Next thing you know guys on here will be accusing you of spending £300,000 to dump water on your £10k car for an insurance write-off claim.

With two inches of dirty water in the bottom, it's going to stink in fairly short order. It'll be a pig to get it out as well. It may well still work, and be drivable, but it's gonna hum like a bin lorry.

I understand about the smell of it and the damp, but not sure what the insurance would do in this case. Sure, they'll come out, but they can't write the car off can they?!

They are writing the car off and have told me to remove all personal belongings , the amount of electrical bits that are submerged and also the £3000 ayc pump submerged for ages , sensors , electrics under the seat etc

double :(

edit: after thought, buy back cheap as a track car project? (trying to think of a silver lining....)

Not surprised - as soon as I saw the photos I thought that'd be the result. Hope you can get a good price out of the insurance company!

ofcourse looking at prices of others and they vary so much. There are 2 under £17500 with higher mileage but I know one is needing a paint job and the other the guy was made redundant so I hope he shifts it fast lol.

Others with my mileage standard without the coilovers , exhaust, induction kit and remap but a year newer are sitting at £22500 and my mods are best part of £3000 and all under 1 year old with less that 1500 miles on them but I have no idea how this would come into play as they are insured for like for like value

It's a car, not a boat, it's not designed to be submerged like that. It'll cause all sorts of damage, as the OP has stated.

Sorry to see that - a warning to all that if you like to tinker, keep a job/parts list and store the old parts so that you can swap the expensive bits back in such a case.

I once lost a car and for months remembered various its and bobs I should have removed.

You drove into your "puddle" up to your "wing mirrors" his car was parked. Unless he can control the weather which I doubt.

Everything is insured and covered but to what extent I don't know yet

Totally grim bud - really sorry to see that. I suppose thinking about it, your street is at the bottom of a dip :(

Was such a nice example when you let us have a drive of it. You'd really taken the time to set it up nice. The ride quality was fantastic.

Typically mine is at the top of a hill as you know - and mine could have probably have done with being a total loss given how much work needs doing on it!

Still looking forward, if the insurance hit isn't too bad, you can think about getting that GTR you've always wanted!
