Floods :(

Yesterday was a tough day I can tell you!

My 3month old house suffered from flooding
I managed to get most of the stuff upstairs, but sofas and stuff were too large to take upstairs on my own.

Please ignore the grey shadow spot (dirt inside the lens) but it was the only camera I could lay my hands on in mid flood (everything else was shoved into the spare room).

Insurance company made aware, so the process has started.

We are due to return later today to see what the extent is overnight, the water was slowly dropping when we left.

Its unbelievable the amount of water that fell on the UK yesterday Luckily I have always lived up hills (new house is up a bit of a hill as well).

The obvious question is why was that new estate built there? What does the environment agency say about the flood risk of your area?

The drains couldn't cope basically.
It's a new road and I don't think the drains have ever been cleared fully since building stopped.

That sucks ****. I really feel for you. I'm in a 3 month old house myself and it would kill the shine of moving to a new house. The government should take responsibilty for this kinda thing. They decide where the houses are going.

Edit whose the builder? Is the site even finished?

It never was a flood plain. It's just that the drains couldn't cope.

they have build house's where my old school was and the school field flooded every time it rained but yet theres house's on it

Though i live in a very wet area i am fortunate enough to a) have my house built on slightly higher ground b) own a landrover defender for getting though the 1-2 foot deep lakes across various roads.

and that's the reason that placed probably, small area, all impermeable land.

The internet, tv & phone have been on and off all weekend because of the flooding. Now the water will be off for at least 3 days due to contamination. Great.

Dam, feel for you. Watched Londontonight 2 days ago and saw how terrible the flood was all around UK. Thank god im living in a flat.
