Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao May 2 MGM Grand Las Vegas

Wow, if they ever meet, Pacman will have nothing on Mayweather. As quick as he might be, Pacman is too reckless to win. Perhaps showing signs of age too. Thought Mayweather might look a bit rusty but my word he was slipping everything. It's not even like Guerrero is a lumbering, slow boxer, Mayweather saw everything coming, and landed heavily too. 60% power punches landed? That's incredible.

For the spectacle, yeah sure let's go Pacman v Mayweather, but for boxing, I need to see Alvarez vs Mayweather. As awesome as Alvarez is, I still see Mayweather coming out on top.

Edit: Also want to see Khan vs Mayweather, for the lulz.

He'll probably be fighting Danny Garcia in Sept. That would be my guess. Golden Boy is not going to want their golden goose Alvarez to fight Mayweather just yet.

They may throw Khan to the dogs, now that he's on the decline.

Pacman and Mayweather will most likely never meet. Top Rank and Golden Boy, and its even further away now that Golden Boy and Mayweather are signed with Showtime. Besides, Pacman will probably never be the same again, after that brutal Marquez KO. Only time will tell. Chances are he's done though. Most definitely not going to be in his peak

Yeah, they talk about 'career shortening KOs' and that was one of them. Maybe Marquez might get another shot? He was comprehensively beaten a few years ago, but it's certainly a physically very different Marquez now...

I thought Garcia was facing the winner of Peterson/Matthyse, and then for some reason Khan gets a shot vs the winner of that? (I don't really know what Khan has done to merit that opportunity). Also I don't see Mayweather dropping down a weight again.

Didn't may say he would never fight Peterson after testing positive?

Agreed - another "good" but boring points win.

I never found it boring at all. Mayweather is a genius in the ring, how he adapts and adjusts and then simply dismantles his opponents piece by piece. I thought it was a brilliant display of technical ability and pure skill.

Mayweather vs Alvarez will happen at some stage I'm sure.

Mayweather Vs Alvarez confirmed via Floyds twitter and facebook :D September 14th bring it on

Wonder what the weight will be, i can see the sense in fighting him sooner rather then later

Yes, very surprised by this. A big hats off to PBF for taking this fight. It's by far the biggest challenge out there for him. Catch weight of 152 with all the belts on the line AFAIK. I suspect we'll see more of what we saw with with Guerrero in terms of strategy. With PBF slipping and staying out of reach, using his excellent ring craft. An easy cruise to a decision. But even so, Alvarez is dangerous and very strong. He's naturally bigger than Floyd, so if he gets caught it could be lights out. However i think PBF is too smart to let himself get caught.. But this is boxing and anything can happen.

Just heard about this, hyped already for it. :)

Yeah, no one can call him a cherry picker. This is the most dangerous fight out there for him. I'm wondering if there's a re-hydration clause. Canelo is a jnr middleweight at 154. So only 2lbs is not really all that much. BUT if he's made to sign a re-hydration clause, then it could explain things. Canelo would come into that ring at 170 otherwise. PBF stays in the upper 140's That's a BIG difference in boxing. Canelo would almost certainly come in for the KO at an early stage, given his stamina issues in the later rounds.

Apparently there is no rehydration clause in the contract but I think we'll get more solid details over the next few days. In their last fight, Canelo came in at around 172lbs (against Trout) and Mayweather came in at around 146/147lbs (against Guerrero) so he could be looking at a 25 lb+ weight disadvantage in the ring. That is almost 2 stones!! Good matchup for the boxing fan. :D

I'm wondering if PBF is concerned about Canelo getting better and better, and better to take him out now. In two yrs time, just as Floyd will be getting ready to retire, Canelo would have only improved. He's only 22 right now.

The catch weight of 152 is a sneaky move. Canelo struggles to make 154, cos he's a big strong lad. So he's really gonna have to push it to get down to 152 for those scales. Even with all this in consideration, its still the most dangerous fight for him, and big hats off for taking it.

Wooop, just read about this! I actually can't believe this is on! Fingers crossed for no injuries/stupid drugs testing stuff. Very interesting, I don't know who to put my money on. Mayweather has got to be the favourite I guess, but Canelo... I can't believe the guy is only 22?! He is prolific to say the least. I've only watched a handful of his fights, but he doesn't seem to have any obvious weaknesses, except maybe not having as much 'big' fight experience as Mayweather, and being slower. Exciting stuff :D
