Fly on a rope

An ant/fly/wasp isn't an animal, it's an insect.

do you eat meat?

I knew someone would say this. Yes, I sometimes eat meat, I know it is still cruel but they get killed for a purpose. Randomly torturing flies/bees/ants for fun is not a valid purpose in my eyes.

Im going to try it soon with wasps because bees are nice and have for a purpose (unlike wasps)

Its fun
It's also cruel and as it happens they *do* have a purpose. They kill and eat other insects such as gnats, house flies and mosquitoes as well as serving as meals for other insects. House flies and mosquitoes are far more of a threat to human health than wasps.

Now suppose you tell us what your function is in the grand scheme of things...

Seems like a valid purpose to me, to derive fun for the individual doing the torturing.

fair play, i'm a veggie cos i don't like to torture animals at all

yes i avoid battery eggs, and i do have an issue with the way milk is procured these days (cows being in kept in a tat of almost constant pregnancy so that the udders are in milk production all year round etc etc) but tried soya milk and dont like it  so i try to use organic milk, least they are feed properly and not on steroids

O/T but try Asda's own brand, the one sweetened with apple juice. I hated soya milk at first but you just get used to it; I don't really like milk anymore especially on things like cereal which with sweetened soya milk, you can then eat without sugar.

i dont eat cereal with sugar on anyway love my shredded wheat/cornflakes straight out the box and un-adulterated (:D), and ok, thanks for the info, will give it a try

my parents are vegan, so i could probably persuade them to try that brand for a week, they normally buy alpro, and i think it tastes foul :(

Eat halal or kosher meat(though they aren't even guaranteed to be torture free anymore these days :( )

I'm no vegetarian by a long shot, but aren't those two ways slightly more savage than a bolt in the brain?

No, complete opposite, animal HAS to be killed by a sharp knife and all four main blood and air ways have to be cut with one stroke. This wouldn't hurt, a bolt and/or boiling would

they were never guaranteed to be torture free, a slit to the throat doesn't mean they die instantly, in fact, i would rather eat non-halal meat, also, kosher just means thats what jews consider edible food, in neither case does it mean they have to be kept in human conditions

and if they miss? a painful death, and a wasted carcass, as i doubt they would then use the 'unclean' meat

Utter rubbish. Halal meat should be banned in this country as the slaughtering method is unnecessarily cruel and barbaric.

Who cares so long as the meat tastes nice. You don't exactly think "Hmm I wonder how this cow was killed" when your tucking into your nice juicy steak.
