Focus CC3

I thought that the diesel sounded a bit loud by the dealer tried to make out that it was better performance wise that the petrol engine.

Can't say that I thought it was ugly, in fact I rather liked it!

Kappa, yes the idea of having a convertible does appeal but the fact that it's a hared top when not open is good too.

Love mine ;) but I've got the petrol, seriously wish I'd gotten the diesel as the 2.0 petrol is a bit lacking.
I love the look and the feel of it, though I agree the rear is a bit of an afterthought.

I've not had a problem with boot space yet, even with the roof down, there's a lot of space underneath...

Thanks Kev, good to hear something positive. Sometimes I wonder if this is a millionaires playground and not a PC parts forum!

I think it's the coolest car that I've ever driven and given thats it'll be the first time I've bought new it's the car of snazzy little car that I'm happy to part with serious money for.

Then thats all that matters mate! What engine did you try?
Well it was the top of the range 2.0 tdci and when we sat down and spoke about it afterwards that was the car that he gave me a price for, something which I hope I can knock him down on a bit. I'd be a mug not to try!

One concern was the sound of the diesel engine when we were stood outside of it although I couldn't hear it when I drove it with the top up and the top down. Added to that what car suggests that the petrol version is "slow", so anything less than the car that I've test driven would be a no-goer.

Its not just that mate, when you're spending £15k on a convertible (if thats how much it is new, I think it is? correct me if wrong), you're well into the territory of damn good cars, I would buy a Z4 for that money. A Focus CC doesnt even come close.
You're probably right but that sized car doesn't really appeal to me. What I like about the CC3 is that it looks like a normal sporty car (to me) with the top up and hey presto you can peel it back and it just adds an extra dimension. Bear in mind that my car history is Metro, Sierra, Mondeo, Focus, Megane and you'd probably understand why this might appeal to me!

^^^^

I've only seen one on the road, the front and 3/4 side profile look acceptable, its the rear end thats just wrong, when the boot looks longer than the bonnet you know you've got a styling problem, its got Lexus SC430 syndrome.
I really can't see that. I've got the brochure in my hands here and it looks like a nice car!

What is an "actually nice car"? And what do you think that that will achieve for me other than to create doubt in my mind about a car that I think is nice? Keep in mind that if I buy this car that I intend to pay for it, not to finance it and I'm not looking to spend too much more than £12,000. This Focus ticks most of the boxes that I'm looking for, feels like a nice car to drive and looks the part as far as I'm concerned. If you're suggesting that I try a car that costs twice as much to buy or that I go for a second hand car than there's no point.

Well it seems a very nice car and a good price for what they had on offer in their showroom. I've looked around several dealers at different types of cars to see what has taken my fancy having originally started looking for something a bit higher of the ground and driven a few different types before looking at my options and seeing what I could get extra if I looked at something a little more ordinary. Then yesterday I had a go in the CC3 and it was by the the most likely car that I feklt that I wanted to spend a decent amount of money on.

So, what, in the £16k price range can I get, thats NEW that is of the same ilk but better than the CC3?

Hell bent seems a bit strong. I was originally asking for opinions as to whether it was a BAD car and nit the fact that there was a car park full of better cars. I know that, but it's a case of one step at a time as I try different cars and this is a step that I'm happy to take.

I'll probably find that down the line when I move on from this car I might try for something more to what is being suggested here but for now I'm quite happy to go for the CC3. It's a nice car and I like it :)

The Focus CC is not a brilliant car. You think it is, presumably because you've yet to drive an actually brilliant car. Low standards are not a reason to spend £16,000. I suggest you drive some more cars so you can get some perspective, then you might realise how £16,000 for a Ford Focus really is rather a lot of money.

Secondly, the new car thing. What? I'm not going to suggest you buy something ancient that'll break all the time but come on. It's a car. It's not going to explode after 3 years. You'll find loads of decent 2 year old cars that are better than this Focus in every possible way.

You'll regret spending so much money on such a mundane car one day, I just hope the regret comes before the cheque is signed.
I can understand why you're saying that but I reminds me of the Clarkson's of this world who test drive £500K supercars and then call the Vectra poop.
