Because my car was a mobility when times were tough ands its the worst thing I ever did. I know its different to buying new, but buying new does not make financial sense.
If you want to show off by saying you have a brand new car go for it, but ill be backing the guy with the 2 year old car that looks identicle with a private plate and costs half as much.
 
This thread should go down as one of the most retarded ever.

OP should have posted i'm buying a Ford Focus CC3 and not asked for opinions because all he's spent the last god knows how many pages doing is defending his possible car choice (this week) rather than taking onboard what anyone has said.

It takes a special sort of person to do that.
 
Get the brand new Focus experience for just £200 - hire a Focus from Enterprise for a week. Then you can get it out of your system, realise a new Focus is nothing special, and buy something decent.

this is another good point

look at the footage in the news of the stockpiles of unsold jaguars and hondas. They're all just sat in an airfield somewhere, and in the current credit crunch wont be sold anytime soon.

They could be there 6 months or more, but they will still be sold as "new"

Fair play but in this situation with my choice of car it would be a mistake to buy a used version because older models have had problems with leaks whereas this new model is reportedly much better.

Thank you, I'm glad you appreciate that I am indeed special. :p

I did indeed post that I was buying a CC3, hence the title, and was after reasons why not to buy that particular car. I didn't want telling to buy something else.

what you mean is, you asked if there were any known mechanical issues with this particular car.

There are always issues with new cars mate. My best friend that ive known since school bought a brand new octavia VRS, and had nothing but trouble in the first few months with stuff going wrong. Bits not being as they were supposed to, bits missing, trim squeaking and stuff.


He was back and forth from the dealers for the first couple of months. Obviously it was all fixed under warranty and fine now. But just because you've bought new doesnt mean your motoring is trouble free.

new cars ALWAYS have problems, especially ones in the focus end of the market. They arent quality vehicles like Audis and Mercs etc.. They're in the budget end of the market so you certainly expect problems

Better than crap does not mean it's good.
I think you are mad to buy a new focus with cash, I really can't get my head round the mental twists you have to make to come to the conclusion that a focus cc is a better proposition than a used (but still with warranty) A4 cab.

granted none of them will be expensive blown engines or anything, and just annoying things

But this is why you buy used. Let somebody else put up with the annoying new car bugs and have it to the dealers. Buy it 12/18 months on once all of thats gone.

Me, Ive had 3 Fords, My current ST, a MK4 Mondeo Ghia TDCI and a ST170.

The ST170 wasnt stirctly brand new as it was a demonstrater, with 200 miles on it.
 
04 Fiat stilo, 3 days old = 2 broken door check straps.
08 Astra, 1 weeks old = Juddering clutch.
07 Citroen C8 1 month old = leaking sump.
08 Focus 1.8 = Water in boot.
New can be a minefield. Let someone else take the first year of luck, do the sensible thing.
 
I actually think the Focus CC is quite a nice looking car. Admittedly the back end is a bit lazy, but that can be overlooked because overall it looks nice.

Also if he isn't too bothered about the brand, or driving experience, or image, then there is no good reason to get the Audi over the Ford. The ford will be pretty well kitted out, maybe not quite as well as the Audi but still. Only other thing is reliability/quality. The Audi will be better made and more reliable, but in general Fords are also very well made and reliable, and if it does break down it'll be cheaper to fix in general.

Well he wants the "new feel", for himself I'm guessing, not for anybody else. I wouldn't personally get a new car for that unless I was made of money, but then I wouldn't get a focus because I don't like them anyway. But I think his reason is fairly valid, just because it isn't that tangible doesn't make it less valid. Either that or the OP just has OCD.
