Focus RS Mk1

Already a member from the days of my RS Turbo.
Focus with 330bhp will have a better bhp/tonn i would have thought, my mates fiesta beats m3s round oulton park.

Putting 330BHP down in the focus would be harder than the M3 no doubt. There probably would be nothing in it. But I wouldn't saying the RS would smoke it.

Then again I am using facts I researched on the internet and no real life experience so I could be totally wrong and the RS could be a true weapon.

Check out Top Gear power laps.

The RS is a track animal...

Nice, 400lb ft is nice but doesn't mean you are faster or give me any indication of speed.

I wonder which hatchback we will have next week which is an M3 beater?

First an Astra, now a Focus.

Nath...you seem to be under the impression that an M3 is the fastest thing on the the road

There is no reason why a little fettling can turn any hatchback into a supercar chaser ;)

I'm not honestly. I just know the E46 M3 is a very capable car and not just in a straight line.

Like I said, I've never driven either so i'm just basing my thoughts on stuff I've read.

My 270 hp Rover was as quick as a CSL. I have no doubt a 330hp focus would have an issue with an M3

Handling is however the Mk1s party piece! The car can go round corners like it's on rails thanks to it's suspension setup and Quaiffe diff. Mine on track with KW suspension and semi slick tyres can keep up with M3 CSLs easily.

What times were you running at Donington then? Perhaps you were driving better than the CSL's but they are rapid and incredibly well sorted and balanced on track, which is why when the driver gets into the groove they go so well. I've got a few buddies who make em fly, happy to go get some of their times to compare. A standard one did 7:50 around the Ring, proper quick car and quite a bit quicker than the stock M3 on track.

 I know the CSL is good, but Jesus wept, he could give the Stig a run for his money with that effort!!!

It's not hard to give an M3 driver a run for their money on a track when you have 300+bhp and a very very good handling car in the Focus RS at your disposal.

However if the driver in the M3 CSL is as capable of a driver in the RS, I can't see the RS getting past, but will be able to keep within eyesight ;)

That wasn't my mate who did that time, that was Horst but I know people who could probably get there, couple who'd probably go quicker come to think of it :D
