Fog lights

2) When I'm going down really dark country roads, as they help light up the roadside better

But the extra light is worthless - they only light up the ground directly in front of you, anything extra it helps you see will be so close to your car you wont possibly have time to react so you'll still hit.

I never use my front fog lights, only rear one. Been in 2 situations when I was driving in heavy fog and having the fog lights on seems to made things even more blurry and hard to see.

I wouldnt even spec fog lights on new cars I think but all the cars I owned had them as standard, my dad however thinks fog lights is a must have safety feature.

haha no seriously, you find that people with their high spec zenon's like to blind people to show they have a top spec car I swear. Numerous times have I had Mercs with their lights on in broad daylight just to draw attention to their sparkly lights.

I suppose it is annoying actually.. but not enough for me to make yet another thread about it, would rather save the effort of ranting and just shake my head at anyone with fog lights on in daylight. :)

i have my headlights on 100% of the time as not having the dash illuminated really annoys me, pet hate.......and ive done this since i had my cavalier which was FAR from fancy lights so it isn't to show off my "posh" lights,

Pah, xenon envier

tom having your xenons on all the time will make the bulbs dimmer and bluer over time

i just use mine when its raining or dark

if you want your dash lit up, just use sidelights?

I got pulled over for having my fogs on once. Left them on by accident.
"Oh sorry it was a bit foggy in cirencester"

Just sent me on my way, having your fogs on you're just drawing attention to yourself.

Don't get why people think it looks good.

What a load of rubbish. If somebody would miss an enormous truck they'll miss it regardless of how many laws you break whilst you approach them or how many lights you display.

I'm sorry Fox, but you may well feel thats rubbish, I disagree. Get yourself in an HGV sometime, it would be quite an eye opener for you!

People DO miss something as big as an artic (!) , it happens more often than you'd think.

As already said, anything you can add to the vehicles "Road presence" is a help, I have no desire to flatten somebody who's driving with his head up his arse, and, in certain situations, I will do all I can to make sure I'm seen.

I have been pulled for having front fogs on in my car, never in an HGV, the vast majority of Coppers & VOSA inspectors appreciate the difference between chavvy boy & his pimp my ride Corsa and myself & other HGV drivers in 40t+ mobile battering rams. - Think about it.

You'll be pleased ,no doubt, to hear that "our" new Scanias have no front foglights......

Unless an HGV is less noticeable than a car, I still think its rubbish.

I suspect people dive out in front of you not becuase they cannot see you, but becuase they are impatient idiots who cannot bear the idea of being behind a truck. Foglights wont fix that.
