Here's the news, also - I'm back folding! Living abroad, kids, no rig and poor cooling have stopped me from folding for the last 3 years, but I've finally sorted the cooling and have been running 24/7 for the last week. Feels good to get some points back on the board and hopefully put up a bit of a fight and defend against some of these stomps I see coming :p

i gota slow down abit, off work since friday due to a nackered gearbox/diff , just brought a newer car last thursday and spent all my money so cant afford 50quid a week leccy for a while, typical, i had my focus 8 years without much trouble and it dies on me 1 week before i needed it too

thats sucks. i hope you got it sorted out! the master brake cylinder needed doing on my car, but my mate manage to get a new one for £20, so i'm chuffed with that. :D

car problems all around it seems. both my MOT and insurance run out within 2 days of each other aswell, il get my mot early though to see how badly it fails ,I know its going to fail its just a case of how much do I spend before calling it a day , and to top it of my insurance is £200 up from last year aswell on all the quotes ive been doing, so you might not be the only one cutting back LOL

I'm champing at the bit to stave off a stomp, I'm gonna ask the mrs to leave my pc on for a bit the answer will be no though haha!
You have 10 days, then the gloves are coming off !

Sorry to hear about the car troubles, I got two needing MOTs this week as well :( The good news is I sold some shares that were doing rather well so we might see that getting spent !

Hi guys,

Got a bit of strange problem, hope someone can help here. I've recently had some new hardware delivered at work which I am yet to put in to production am unlikely to for some time so I'd like to restart my contribution to folding.

The machines are running MS Server 2012R2 Std and i've downloaded and installed the FAHClient from the main website. However the first WU that has started to run is only using 20 of the 40 available cpu cores. If I attempt to change the number of cores allocated to the slot I get an error message that tells me 20 is the maximum detected by the client. Looking in task manager the WU is only being ran on the first cpu which figures but even if I add an extra slot to the client it doesn't use the second processor. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong here?

Thanks
B

something biffa might be able to help with,

https://folding.stanford.edu/home/guide/configuration-guide/

Big Advanced

v6: -bigadv
V7: client-type bigadv

Sets a client preference to request extra large work units for multi-CPU socket class server systems. A minimum of 16 CPU cores is required for Assignment Server access, and to meet the extremely short deadlines. This is only a request for a specific type of work unit, and is never a guarantee the client will received this type of work unit. If none of these work units are available, and regular work unit will be downloaded instead.

In 2009, Dr. Kasson introduced a an experimental WU category called “bigadv”, intended for some of the most powerful computers participating in FAH. The initial core count requirement was 8 cores. Currently, bigadv WUs require a minimum of 16 CPU cores and have very tight completion deadlines, although that minimum requirement has been known to change over time. These WUs have a high scientific priority, and are so computationally demanding they could not run anywhere else on Folding@home. They also consume much more RAM and Internet bandwidth, but in return a 20% increase in point value was added on top of the existing Quick Return Bonus points system.

it would look like this
