then use your laptop for what its designed to be used for :)

Keeping cool as possible and playing bejeweled/smashing MS Word/refreshing reddit. ;) :p

Just had to chime in... Are there no possibilities for combining hashing from mining with crunching figures for better reasons than monetry gains?

All these mining rigs obviously have their GPU's hammered but all the CPU's out there sat doing nothing could be used for crunching?

Lappy's can crunch, but unless they are very well cooled the heat from a CPU running 24/7 at 100% is going to be an issue. That will be the case whatever form of DC you try.

My workshop laptop get to crunch DPAD whenever I forget to turn it off ;)
sometimes it can stay on for days and it doesn't seem to get extra hot but it is only a low spec i3 :D

It's looking a bit lonely in here now the crypto guys have got their own nest...

I just came across the Aorus X7 Laptop think that would be a nice replacement for my dead Samsung Q330.
I could crunch a little bit with that but not 24/7, I do like to game also.

I should have my project build up and running soon also so get those 780ti's back to work.

I wonder why my PPD is so low the two GTX 780's (which fold when I'm not gaming so that's about 16-20 hours a day (with control saying 250k-280k PPD and my work Pc is the same say i should be pulling 40-45 PPD

andy how come you waited so long and didn't jump on the 7950 or 7970 bandwagon?

Same reason I had a Q6600 until last year really, it still did the job in games and worked faultlessly. I don't buy hardware for folding, it's for gaming. Main reason I am folding is for some heating! And I'm not mining because I'd rather contribute to a good cause.

I've just put my Father-in-law's new computer together so i've commandeered it for the rest of the week to *ahem* burn it in. Its the most powerful machine i've had in the house for a long time. Its got an i5-4570 and an EVGA SC 760 GTX, current estimation is 100k ppd according to FAHControl but its early days yet.

We've been without a boiler for 13 months now, the main purpose of folding is for some heat in my room. Now in 2 weeks we are getting a new boiler, so I think my folding may come to an end! Not that I don't want to do it, but the cost of electric and the noise of having fans on full blast 24/7 I wont miss at all!

haha its the same for me, I cant tolerate the noise in my room normally, but its so damn cold right now I am back to folding 24x7.. Its literally the only heating in the house.
