I am/was ready to buy another gtx560 but with the teams ppd dropping my hearts just not willing to part with the cash as much :(

Heh, that doesn't make sense, you would think if the teams ppd was dropping you would want to increase it?

My Titans are not doing anything, I'm pretty sure they will be a bit of a waste on Folding until Nvidia pull their finger out and release decent OpenCL drivers. Stanford are not going to develop two separate clients, so going OpenCL was the logical thing to do, just need the drivers now.

From a Seti point of view I am not sure what the situation is at present.

1 gpu wont make much impact lol, its seeing it keep declineing thats doing it lol .

really i need to upgrade to higher end gpus

then again im just tired and when ive had a sleep ill be up and raving! the only thing is the other 560 is a different brand, i dont know why i like keeping everything the same? rather than 3 random different cards and different brands!

i could wait till next payday , big bouns plus 2 bank holidays ( i take the 2.6x pay :D instead of extra holidays )and go crazy haha

Sweet indeed!

Unfortunately I've been out of the country so much the past few weeks I haven't had a chance to do much other than test one of the Titans (Gigabyte) and register the Zotacs.

Never worried about branding much in the past because I would just rip the branded coolers off and watercool, but nowadays so many of the high end GPU's just have the stock cooler and not even a branded sticker on that its not an issue anymore :)

Two points spring to mind.
Firstly, as Biffa said, surely when team performance is flagging is the best time to invest in new hardware.
Secondly, you're the first person to badger other members into buying new hardware "for the good of the team". What's good for the goose ..........
Go on, get it bought :p

My output down this week. had pretty much a whole week of 8070/8071 WUS on my GPUs which are terrible for PPD. Started getting a few 7625s today though, which are a hell of a lot better.

On the subject of new hardware, the SR-2 rig is underway but it's probably going to be the end of the week before it gets finished. Because of that, I've stuck the 690 I bought from Biffa in the server as a temporary measure until I get the 670s transferred to the new rig and the 690 in the gaming rig. As a result, I'm not up to full production yet but have increased PPD by a decent amount. The 690 is at stock just now as it's a temporary measure and there's not much point faffing about overclocking it for the sake of a few days. Each core is giving close to the PPD of one of the OC'd 670s - which is pretty much what I would expect.

Obviously I can't be in the single PC league any more so, dekez, if you would be kind enough to remove me from that section for next week's news? Thank you.

Slightly disappointing drop in team output for various reasons. Hopefully it'll pick up again soon.

As usual, thanks to dekez for the news and a warm Foldy type welcome to the new members :)

FOLD ON TEAM 10 :D

NathWraith & rjkoneill used to be regulars here and oh what fun we had! :D

But I think they went all "pimp my rig" on us and took their uber rigs to beauty contests and the like ... (I'msuredonsandmodshavetriggerswheneversomeonementionstheirnamesandI'mgoingtogetbannedforthis) .... or sumthn :D

Do a search for their posts in here :)

I have found myself scouring ebay looking for something to make into a folding rig. Either something second hand, Xeon or Opteron or something new like Piledriver I was looking at last week from OcUK or i7. Don't know yet what to do, but I guess the searching is part of the fun. When I build it, I am going to hide it in the server room :p

Depends what your budget is. You can pick up 12 core Opteron 6172's on the bay for under £150 each, the motherboards are a bit steep at around £620 but memory's not too bad, I'd say you could put together a 400K PPD monster for under £1500 if you were careful. Or there is one setup ready to go for £2650 for around 500-600K PPD but you'd need to put it somewhere noise wasn't an issue as its a 1U rackmount with 60mm Delta-esque fans!

For around 70-80K PPD you could go high end Intel 3770K SMP plus a HD7950, then add another 7950 for an extra 40K or per card till you run out of slots. Or do similar with a GTX570 or GTX560 448. Not sure what that will set you back tho.
