on good thing though is that i realised that machine is still set to limit WUs needing over 256MB RAM as it used to be the internet sharing machine at home and my brother used to moan like an old woman :p
will get that sorted out before next WU grabbage ;)

That's the spirit, get those big WUs coming in :D

Stan :)

I am currently pricing up a cheapish X2 3800 system which should edge me over the 2000 ppd barrier (WUs permitting, of course)

Stan :)

That's it ordered :D Hopefully be here tomorrow.

The external HDD is for backups for all my rigs and for storing all my media files (pr0n) for when travelling.

I will be shuffling things about a bit.
My 4000 SD is in a machine with a better mobo and decent ram so I will put the X2 3800 in there and build the SD into the cheaper rig along with some old Twinmos ram I have lying around - job done

Stan :)

great work Stan - you're truly a folding legend good sir

I was worried about your definition of "cheapish" until I noticed that included the external HDD and all the optical stuff :p

that company flat is gonna be mighty toasty this summer  you think you'd get away with getting air-con written off as an expense? :p

Anyone else getting these 'orrible little 44 pointers?

Rich, i followed your advice in another thread and created two backup clients, and made them idle priority and the main two low priority. This worked perfectly to begin with, but now one of the ones on idle priority is being worked and one of the low priority ones is sitting idle.
Its not really a problem, as i still have two clients working and two ready in case i get server problems and can't sent/recieve a new wu, but i just wondered if its supposed to do that?

Either way, it means i'm not suffering a drop in production due to server problems any more which is good.

I don't know why that should be - I've never had that problem myself
It's certainly not supposed to do that - I've had deadlineless WUs take several months to finish due to getting hardly any spare time when set up as lower priority.

Not really got any advice I'm afraid apart from try to reconfigure the clients and if that doesn't work than stop the backup clients when you are around or you're sure the other clinets have work so that the WUs with deadlines don't get left too long :o

I won't mess with it as long as its always working two clients, which it seems to be. I'd just rather it didn't randomly switch about because it means it takes longer overall to finish a wu, rather than having two spare clients i seem to be running 4. Although it only swapped when i rebooted, so its working in part...

Edit: I'm lucky then, i've only got 44s on one pc. The opty is doing a 178 and a 172 and a 200 and the 4th client is the one thats been havign problems so its still waiting to send. Its working any two of those 3 depending on what it feels like when it boots up.

Got a 200 on my old celery 433 and its doing better that i'd expected. @ 11% with 6 days left.

Ages? That one should take too long. A few days at maximum.

What sort of PPD are you getting, sir? On what machine doth it run?

P4 2.2a power :D Its on 24/7 but used during the day. Really it only folds between 12 midnight and 9am. Gets hit hard when Im playing some online snooker and playing music.

Currently its doing 75.99 PPD on this WU...

That's not so bad at all. 3 days is not ages in FAH-world. ;)

Expect to see around 110 points per day from each machine globally becasue that is how the points are determined. They benchmark the WU on a P4 2.8 with SSE2 disabled. However long it takes it in days * 110 results in the point value for that WU.

I'm working on it :D

I'm probably going to have 5 rigs working in my bedroom during the summer (including 2 X2 rigs) so A/C is going to be pretty essential - I've got to try ;)

Got to sleep in there to? That will be crazy...

Planning on setting up 2 rigs in my room soon enough. Great time to start folding 24/7 isnt it with the nice warm weather around the corner :D

Wish I had A/C though. Might have to invest in a portable unit, but that could be a little loud and will probably have me modding it to cool the 2 rigs as they would be on my mobo mountings on the desk :p

Who knows yet... I wonder if the rents would'nt think im crazy if I get 3 setup. That would be 4 rigs in our house folding 24/7. All decent fast rigs too, I hope.
