Congrats everyone on a great week - another team stomped and another one all lined up ready.
Loads of Tiffies this week - get 'em out - you know you want to :D
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now :)

***Only got one machine crunching? - Have a looky here***

Conversely, a shocking week for me - the result of much slackage I'm afraid  :(. It won't happen again.
yes indeed - beaten by a girl :o
our Tinkerbell is hardcore though - bet she's been chewing on that 404 pointer for several weeks just waiting for you to drop your guard

hehe Billy - gotta love those crazy beach geeks!!! :D

Mac CPU 1 dumped: 2352 (Run 2, Clone 11, Gen 1)
Mac CPU 2 dumped: 2365 (Run 0, Clone 20, Gen 16)

5 days to the next dump, but its only on for 8/10 hours a day, so 2 weeks :p
p2352 is 686 points
p2365 is 589 points

Mac total 1275 points
X2 total 3978 points

you want me to stick you back in the league? just the X2 or you want the Mac figures too? :p

Welcome back Stan!

glad to hear there was nothing too serious - possibly that Opty 170 is just getting a bit toasty with windows shut and nobody coming and going letting fresh air in while you're away

I am currently pricing up a cheapish X2 3800 system which should edge me over the 2000 ppd barrier (WUs permitting, of course)

Think I'm gonna go for a very cold shower ;) :p

[16:06:40] - Successful: assigned to (171.64.122.136).
I'm pretty sure that's the same server which someone else was having problems connecting to.

Tried stopping the service and restarting?

if that doesn't work you could delete the queue.dat file and the work folder and hope it assignes you to a new server

the error messages don't look exactly the same but it's the same basic pattern - maybe just displayed differently due to different verbosity level

Thanks for the help anyway Rich. Its very much appreciated. Where would we be without you :D
well 370k points lower I guess :D

you're assuming I was right about that server of course :p
I could have been way off the mark but I'm sure that's the same one that was giving problems connecting the other day - maybe some of the servers that appeared when google first got involved are now getting a bit long in the tooth :o

I think this will be my last week in the updates, my internet connection gets cut in the next couple of days and then the machines are off for the summer  My laptop may still be folding but that will be slow work. Been good folding for team 10, be back folding for the team about september time.

Have a fantastic summer - shame you can't keep the crunching going but as long as you'll be back in september I guess we can't get too grumpy about it :p

one of my machines just took a few tries to get work from server 136 too

from the server status page the NETLOAD is currently 49...
NETLOAD tells how busy the server is by netstat (i.e. how many current connections the server is handling). Too many connections (eg more than 30-40) means that the server is heavily loaded. Exceptions include the Assignment Servers which commonly exceed those values without difficulty (they can easily handle 80-120).

luckily it only took a couple of attempts for me to get work so no real harm done - worth keeping a close eye on your rigs though and backup clients might be worth considering

on good thing though is that i realised that machine is still set to limit WUs needing over 256MB RAM as it used to be the internet sharing machine at home and my brother used to moan like an old woman :p
will get that sorted out before next WU grabbage ;)

great work Stan - you're truly a folding legend good sir

I was worried about your definition of "cheapish" until I noticed that included the external HDD and all the optical stuff :p

that company flat is gonna be mighty toasty this summer  you think you'd get away with getting air-con written off as an expense? :p

Its not really a problem, as i still have two clients working and two ready in case i get server problems and can't sent/recieve a new wu, but i just wondered if its supposed to do that?
I don't know why that should be - I've never had that problem myself
It's certainly not supposed to do that - I've had deadlineless WUs take several months to finish due to getting hardly any spare time when set up as lower priority.

Not really got any advice I'm afraid apart from try to reconfigure the clients and if that doesn't work than stop the backup clients when you are around or you're sure the other clinets have work so that the WUs with deadlines don't get left too long :o

I work offshore and it's never quiet there. I've always been able to sleep through quite a bit of noise.

Stan :)
my room used to be pretty noisy with all my rigs in it - I did get used to it quite quickly, afterwards I found it very hard sleeping when I didn't have all that noise :p

the only problem I ever had was the heat if I'd had to leave the windows shut in the daytime then sleep in there later on :o
