Folding@Home Weekly Team News - 24th May 2007

Thanks Mr Millions for a good job well done, as usual.

A good week for me as I broke the 5,000 barrier at last:D
Previous week was carp as I had 3 SMP unit crash. The overclock was fine in windows but VMware/Linux didn't like it. I've now put an extra 0.5v thru my RAM which seems to help.

Note it seems DDR RAM timings have more of an effect than MHz.
1GB @ 2-3-3-6 218MHz 34minutes per frame project 1523
2GB @ 2.5.-3-3-7 220 MHz 37 mins p frame.

Fold on Team 10

I bet that's where my missing 1523 points have gone! It's all a plot by the citrus shadow to keep me below him. ;)

Citrus circuits to full power - Mummmmmmmhahahahahaha!

Edit: but as I've move my home pc into the subteam, I'll stop at the next services and let you overtake me in your own time.

Deffo not adding up :/

On the 23rd i dumped 5 WUs instead of the normal 3. However they can't have been the normal WUs as the 5 works out at 781 per WU as opposed to the 200 odd of the normal ones :/

Looks like a pair of 1523 pointers, which sounds like SMP production to me.

Yay!!!

Top single score...

Justice is served :D

I would say I'll have you next week but i've got to spend all weekend rendering videos so my production will be way down :(

As all my borgs are off for the long weekend I haven't got anything to overtake you with, let alone contribute to the subteam. I've had to kick off a couple of SMP WUs at home to get any production at all.

my farm is off too - just the two smp'er on closed beta

Folding out why my machine keeps switching off/rebooting - Abit guru (set at 60 degrees)/hot weather and wife blocking the inlet with washing

Think ive worked out why im getting poor daily output the project 3404 gromac units worth 206 pts are rubbish. Just got a different unit that is worth 292 (at 12 % now) and it will be done 5 hours before the 3404 unit which is *already* at 60% completion....

Hopefully ill get some better units like this for a while!

dunno what's going on with me... my pc is on 24/7 and still i only get 1000 points each week :( All the wu's have been crud 200 pointers though
Make sure you have -forceasm set as described in the sticky. I missed it on one of my borgs and it ran at half the speed of the others.

You shouldn't need -forceasm but if you have a dodgy shutdown the computer client disables SSE on the next run incase it was that which caused it.

Your logfile should look something like this:

[09:01:40] (Starting from checkpoint)
[09:01:40] Protein: p2613_TETHERED VESICLES
[09:01:40]
[09:01:40] Writing local files
[09:01:40] Completed 106699 out of 125000 steps (85)
[09:02:16] Extra SSE boost OK.

edit: If SSE has been disabled then simply stopping and restarting the service/client should sort it out if you're not happy playing with the registry/service to add -forceasm
