There is some pretty hefty work available for beta testing at the moment, probably better suited to A64 and above as my XP is choking on them a little.

Please don't join the beta group just for the extra points though - they need people who will be able to report back with any problems as soon as possible and who know enough about computers to be able to rule out any effects from anything else running on their systems.

If you wish to join you'll need to have an account for the folding forums and post in this thread and...

Please include a short statement of your qualifications and why you would like to be added. If you fail to do this, you will not be eligible to join the beta team.

Once again - please do not join just for the chance of extra points, you must be willing and able to contribute to the testing of new work - also the points are not always good for beta work, sometimes for instance work is released with much lower points than it should really have - these are not always fully re-credited, you are also more likely to get EUEs which can result in partial credit worth much less than the share of the WU that was completed

Anyway just thought it was worth making you aware that there is more to folding than a repetitive stream af dull 56 pointers :o
Who's up for some? :D

Yes very true Billy - I only have beta work on my main machine for that very reason

You really do need to at least have direct access to any machines that are running beta - it would probably be alright to run beta work on a few machines as long as you monitor them quite closely

There are some mighty high averages there, it would be interesting to have a breakdown of the WUs done to achieve these high averages.
you can see exactly what Ken has had if you look on his Personal Page then clicking on the "Detailed listing for projects xxx-xxx" - at a glance it looks like there were quite a few 600 pointers in that lot which would make sense as they aren't exclusively -advmethods

it would be nice if they could put the points for each project on the same page - don't think that'll happen anytime soon though :o

I used to get ~200 a day with my old A64 3000...
yup - the difference is the availability of large WUs with bonus points

140ppd without bonus points is very good going
once the QMDs return there should be less problem getting decent WUs - until then it's just treacle time :o

So what you're saying is that beta testers get the secret decoder ring via carrier pidgeon that they then use to decode Vijay Pande's brainwaves that then gives them an uber-secret command-line flag that asks for beta WUs? I get it now. ;)
who's been leaking the secret of the uber-secret command-line flag? :p

yes it's just a flag - no magic or server witchcraft I'm afraid, thus you have total control over which of your machines get beta WUs and which don't - you could even decide which core of your X2 gets beta and which doesn't :D

as Mattus said we won't be giving it away - it's easy enough to register for the beta team, it's not a closed secret club, they just want people who are capable of helping report problems if/when they arise

so if you want beta work go register for the forums and post in that thread with a little bit about how you can help

On a different note looks like we have a good folding day yesterday
ahh yes indeed - hope we can keep that up for the rest of the week, putting lots of red in the news makes mrs99million sad :( :p

my monster 1112-pointer will be finishing tomorrow morning too - hope that'll chuck me back up in the top 20 again or I'll have to do something drastic and quite costly  :D

"I want to buy these new computers," said Rich as his plastic credit card quivers between his ruddy hands.

:p
lol - i was on the verge of it a little while ago Master O'Billy-Wan :p
Trouble is I just spent £50 on a 9800Pro which kinda sealed the decision to stick with Skt-A a while longer

of course I could always go for a Skt939 board with AGP, or even one of the Asrock's which sport both :o :p

noooooo - the power of the credit side is stroooong!!!

no probs mister buzz - will add you now :)

lol Billy - i don't need any encouragement :p
If i did go for a new machine that's not a problem - though I definately would have to lose at least one older cruncher for the sake of the leccy bills :o
