Welcome to the team!!!

If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

Not such a good week - hence all the nasty red numbers, however that's bound to happen after a good week last week. Overall we're still doing alright, going in the right direction and most importantly still spreading the good word.
Great work everyone, congrats to all the tiffy winners and a big warm welcome to the new recruits!
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now :)

Disastrous week for me :(

Somebody has been staying at the flat whilst I've been away and unplugged the 3 machines in the sitting room

In doing so they also switched off the router so that the 2 machines upstairs couldn't connect.

I had 1 56 pointer returned from my solitary borg (big bro's lappy) this week.

I uploaded the stash of deadlineless WUs my lappy had been folding whilst it was offshore with me earlier today.

Never mind, everything is back up and running now.
I may have to consider moving everything up to the bedroom whilst I'm away from now on to avoid a repeat performance - I wouldn't mind so much but they left the flat looking like a pigsty as well

i just need an address and a couple of photos - such treachory warrants being hung by the doobries in the town square at noon :o

i've got wound up enough by my brother turning off folding on the internet sharer in the past - i can't imagine how you must be feeling, i guess at least some of the machines weren't wasting electricity

here's to a great weekend and an even better week next week
i'm popping home this weekend and taking a router with me - will be bringing back the sharer machine which will go into the loft and will be clocked a lot higher than it is currently

Woohoo new member and top stomper :D

Only an old Athlon XP but hey every little helps
congrats on making top stomper this week, welcome to the madhouse :D
there's nothing wrong with old Athlon XPs - given the right work they can churn out some pretty good points

I await the day I can I can get something dual-core and insanely powerful but until then a handful of XPs around the house and a couple more in the loft will do nicely :)

gonna be taking the Barton out of the current machine and matching it up with the NF7 from home (best motherboard i've owned - it doesn't turn off! :D) to get it up from it's current stock setting up to something a lot nicer

that'll leave me with a K7S5A and either an XP1700 of the silly clocking variety or an unlocked Duron which thinks it's an XP1900 whichever gives the best results - either way i should be able to squeeze enough extra juice out of the pair to make a difference

I notice that it doens't bother you that someones been in your flat and plundered and pillaged the place whilst you weren't there, only that they unplugged the pc's >_< ;p

And I must also apologise for I have stopped folding :(

My machines:
Athlon 64 3200 (2270mhz)
Athlon 64 3000 (1800mhz)
Athlon XP (1900mhz)
Athlon (1200mhz)
Pentium 4 (2500mhz)

are all searching for aliens atm.

This is laregely due to the fact that the P4 and the 3200 can't be left on overnight cause there in bedrooms and the other 3 can't be left on cause they generate so much noise together that there audible through a closed door across the landing.

I'd also pinched a friends Athlon XP 2000 but thats just died, however this does mean it's time for an upgrade and boy is it gonna be one hell of an upgrade :D

I'm building said friend this system:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz 2x512kb
DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR EXPERT
OCZ Platinum GX XTC PC4000 DDR 500MHz 2x512 Matched Pair
XFX GeForce 7300 GS 512MB DDR2

my intent is to overclock the X2's socks off, ppl have hit 2.4/2.5ghz hoping to achieve at least that, I'd like to fit a Zalman CNPS9500
It will be searching for aliens also as it will not be on regularly.

Thanks for the news Rich!

I've made the top 100 on EOC! W00t! :p Putting out a nice 450+ ppd at the moment.

I would also like to parp Aceface ... 2 days and counting! I think we joined on the same week a while ago, so I hope you won't hold it against me :).

EDIT: Congrats to DreederOcUK as well - jeez you're really flying up those tables!

A bit better week for me.
Nice to be mentioned for the new tiffy.

Off down under tomorrow for a month. :D

Will have to reduce the clock on the opty rig a little but other than that all foldy rigs will be at full production. Just hope there is no power cut as the house sitter won't have a clue how to start them all up again.

Providing I get some good wu's I could come back to my next tiffy.

Fold on team.

It's a company flat so people come and go on a semi-regular basis - I'm the only full-time resident at the moment.

I don't have a problem with people using my PCs but I get a bit miffed when they switch them off without my permission.

If it happens again, they will all go in my room and the door will be locked and no-one will be able to access the internet (my broadband connection).

Never mind the aliens, they won't cure diseases - Folding will :p Team 10 needs you.

Is anyone else having trouble sending units?

First i was getting this:
[10:20:25] Preparing to commence simulation
[10:20:25] - Looking at optimizations...
[10:20:25] - Created dyn
[10:20:25] - Files status OK
[10:20:25] Error: Work unit read from disk is invalid

And now this:
[10:43:23] + Attempting to get work packet
[10:43:23] - Connecting to assignment server
[10:43:23] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[10:43:23] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[10:43:24] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[10:43:24] + Could not connect to Assignment Server 2
[10:43:24] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[10:43:24] - Error: Attempt #9 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
Is it a problem at my end?

Team has gone green btw, not good.

Cheers and Congrats yourself, Im hoping to get myself into the Teams top50 within this month and then the top25 before July. Ive currently got a 64bitXP3200 system here "not on" waiting for me to get a PSU and a wireless NIC, and Im hoping top order the remaining parts of my quad-cored setup when my next paycheck arrives. Already got the motherboard, and 1 of the Operton 265s, just need another, the ram, PSU, case of somesort, HD..... arhhhhh.

Mmm quad-core! :p With that doing F@H I'm sure you will be in the top 25 remarkably soon!

@ Joe42 - Yer, I was having the same problems with the F@H servers - see the Distributed Computing main page for a post I did there. Everything seems to be back to normal now though. Wierd!
