those Demae Ramen instant noodles from Chinese supermarkets. Loaded with the stuff. So much so I swear I have a headache from eating them. But BOY they taste good!

Used to be fully addicted to those, but it's such a cheap, delicious & easy meal. Bag of those, spring onions, chopped mushroom, cooked chicken / ham & sweet chilli sauce. Could cure any hangover...
Those were the days...

Aspartame is actually worse for you (based on scientific evidence) than MSG has ever been shown to be, and no one cares about how many diet drinks they keep on consuming.

If youre not bothered about aspartame, then you cant really be bothered about MSG tbh.

i dont consume aspartame

Doesn't MSG contain glutamate though? In which case how do you reconcile those two comments? Sorry if I'm being thick! And Cuchulain, it seems that satchef1 was indeed saying that an intolerance to MSG was impossible ;).

MSG is broken down in to Sodium and Glutamate ions in the mouth (Saliva). Can MSG really be discussed as a problem in the body when it no longer exists within seconds of being placed in the mouth? The health problems that Sodium and Glutamate can cause are well documented. If you consume excessive quantities of them as part of an unhealthy diet (think processed foods and lots of them) then you are going to be ill. Likewise, I could sprinkle MSG in to my food every night and have no problems, Sodium and Glutamate aren't problems on their own (in realistic quantities).
