Football Banter Thread

It is very old news - by all accounts, Couts and Sturridge were committee signings in the January window as 'they' realised Rodgers is an appalling judge of player.

If they realised that why have they continued to allow him to sign his own players? It would be much easier to take your posts seriously if you didn't add make believe things to emphasise your point.

It was reported the day after the transfer window shut, when we ended up letting Carroll go and didn't sign Dempsey, that the owners offered Sturridge but that Rodgers only wanted him on loan and that's why the deal didn't happen then.

Yeah so Sturridge was a committee signing 'forced' upon him as he is a **** judge o player after everyone of his 1st window signings failed, well done Baz. After the Suarez season he had more of a say due to the excellence of said player so we had the ****e he brought in with Lovren & Lallana and then a TC signing or 2 with Markovic. This year after throwing his backroom staff under then bus he convinced Ayre and Gordon to back him again which is why he got his no 1 targets again with Benteke and 150k pw Jimmy Milner, Clyne who has been remarkably average so far (no shock there) and a pair of committee signings in Gomez and Firmino.

So because of Suarez, a player he didn't sign, they decided that he could judge players again? Yea sure. More like they didn't make that judgement on him after 2 months in the job like you claim.

So Sturridge wasn't a TC signing? Nor Couts, and Lovren/Lallana werent his No 1 signings? Nor were Benteke or Milner?

Then again we weren't in for Benteke were we though. And Milner definitely isn't on 150k a week, nor been promised game time or playing in the middle. And Arda Turan is 100% not signing for Barca to sit on the bench for half a season either eh

money talks unfortunately :/

Sunderland have embarrassingly more money than 3/4 of the Spanish, German, French and Italian top league teams. Money doesn't talk, lack of quality talks.

Neville has no valid point at all, these teams he's talking about have all been mismanaged. Newcastle's buying policy has been dire, as has Sunderland's. Leeds overspent and got themselves into financial trouble chasing the champions league, had they never done that they'd likely still be in the premier league.

Sunderland went through years of dodgy managers and constantly buying players who have played in the premiership before... that was it, not good players just that classic awful logic of if they've played in the premiership before they are definitely good enough. Buy a bunch of b-team united players and presume they'll keep you up. Oh, Keane used to be a top player, must be a top manager, almost exactly the same job, no really.

Plenty of southern teams have been mismanaged to hell and back. What about when Southampton and Portsmouth were struggling and being relegated and Hull and Sunderland were being promoted to the premier league? I mean honestly, Carver comes across as a brain dead idiot and they put him in charge of the club.... how has that got a single thing to do with financial decisions. Newcastle are like the opposite to Sunderland, rather than buying ex premiership experience(regardless of being devoid of quality), Newcastle run around buying every single foreign player who had a half good season last year. By 32 french players one year and surely they'll gel together instantly at a new club. By Arfa, have it backfire, by the Cabella, backfires, by Thauvin, backfires.

Bruce sucks, so let him keep his job, he sucks more, so let him keep his job again. Sunderland keep buying badly, so let the same people be involved and keep buying again and again. Kaboul... exactly the kind of player I'm talking about, a useless reckless moron who has sucked for years, been injured a lot but he's been in the league so Sunderland bought him without a second thought rather than actually buying someone good.

Making excuses for mismanagement isn't helping anyone.

Agree with most of that. Though they're not mutually exclusive, definitely a lot of mismanagement, but let's not pretend there isn't a huge bias towards London clubs.

Have I suggested Sturridge wasn't a club signing or Coutinho and Lovren, Lallana, Benteke and Milner weren't his signings? And are you suggesting I said we weren't in for Benteke, Milner isn't on £150k per week, promised game time and that Barca wouldn't sign Arda if he was going to be sat on the bench? You're not making things up again are you Newbie?

Maybe I'm wrong about you and you're just easily confused rather than a barefaced liar.

Every man and his dog knows Sturridge was a club signing but that doesn't mean that the club forced him on Rodgers because they decided he couldn't judge a player. That's bs you've made up - after all if they club decided that after 2 months you've got to ask why he's been given more and more of a say in signings the longer he's been here. Equally everybody knows (and I said as much) that Milner will be earning big money but that also doesn't mean that he's been given a 5 year contract on £150k per week with a £10m signing on fee and guaranteed to play every single game. Again, that's bs you've made up.

Like I said, it would be far easier to take you seriously if you stuck to just giving opinions without the added lies in an attempt to validate what you're saying. That way you won't continue to look foolish when people call you up on things and you can't back up what you've said.

If you like rival games.......Sunday looks amazing :D

As usual I am working all weekend. Hopefully I will be finishing mid afternoon and be back in time for the United game.

Definitely a good day to just sit on the sofa and watch all the entertaining games. Although they will probably be boring!

Think that sadly will be the end of Bournemouths season.

Horrible injury, just hope the can come back from it.

Gradel and now Wilson. Shocking luck for Bournemouth.

and Mings, though I swear everyone was saying it was a broken leg for him but apparently it's his ACL. Three players with screwed knee ligaments is.... bizarre. Weird training ground catching players legs, stretching/hurting ligaments which finally go in games, excessive training or poor warm up.

It's probably just horrendous luck but three incredibly important players out for over half a year could easily end up the difference between relegation and staying up.
