Football Banter Thread

Anyone else read stuff about their team and have to stop after the first couple of paragraphs because what's being said is just absolute drivel?

Usually only if I get sucked in to reading the Daily Mirror website.

I think that's absolute nonsense.

Doesn't mean it is definitely wrong though; regardless of how good, bad or indifferent the new signings have been, it could still be that Sherwood is yet to be convinced they were worth the money.

Paulinho was out from mid-December so he couldn't play him
Cost like £17m, only played 90mins in the league twice under Sherwood. Can he really be convinced of a player costing so much in such little time?

Lamela has also been out since December-ish and so Sherwood equally hasn't really had a chance to show the club what he thinks of him. Admittedly he was no shining light under AVB
Cost like £30m, grand total of 3 league starts in his entire Spurs career. Why would Sherwood have been convinced he was worth the outlay based on so little viewing?

Chiriches is going to stay. He likewise has been injured for a few weeks
Hasn't played a league game since January, and regardless of injury perhaps Sherwood favours Dawson and Vertonghen when both are fit?

Soldado hasn't really got going yet and under AVB wasn't getting the service he needed. His confidence was clearly knocked by a lack of goals and so that's bound to have a knock on effect under Sherwood's tenure.
Cost like £26m, grand total of 2 league goals since October. Is that a truly convincing return for a striker costing in excess of £25m?

So basically I can believe that the statement may have some merit, it isn't saying these are rubbish players, it is simply saying Sherwood isn't convinced they are worth the money yet, which could in large part be because he hasn't seen enough of them yet.

Everton and Chang have extended their shirt sponsorship deal. £16m over the next 3 years...

Some major rumblings going on that Wenger is in serious jeopardy.

Had a 2 hour emergency meeting with the board this morning and the press conference for the Swansea game has been cancelled. They will instead be given some quotes from an in house interview.

Maybe he'd rather not face questions on Arsenal's future when he knows he's been given the boot :p

KLOPP, KLOPP, KLOPP, KLOPP!!!!!

I think he might walk as well, but if they win the FA Cup then he might decide to stay. Though it would be a good parting gift.

Arsenal could do with a new approach, if they can find the right man.

Was just about to post the same thing lol...yep press conference cancelled, all players banned from speaking to the media including social media.

Will be interesting to see what comes of this supposed meeting, he wont be sacked the board have too much faith in him. If anything he might have decided enough is enough and call it a day but wont happen till end of the season. Or it could be a meeting to hammer out which way to go now ie summer transfer market is coming up and we need a few new players and not just squad players but some decent world class players ie a couple of forwards/strikers, a decent CDM and an RB to cover for Sagna as its looking more and more likely that he wont sign another contract...and from what i have read he wants £100k week ovre 2 yrs plus a £6mill signing on bonus.

Either way if Wenger has decided to call it a day then i hope we can send him off with the FA Cup trophy at least. Will be a sad day if he walks but i wouldnt blame him if he does, yesterdays defeat is one of our worst defeats ever.

Would love to see Klopp at Arsenal, he has the same similar outlook to Wenger when it comes to football...perhaps he might be the man to take us further and win us trophies/titles.
