Football Banter Thread

Yes what utter **** that is. At least be honest, concentrate on my football, laughable. They always pedal out that **** to try to increase their position nearing the end of contracts.

I try to block it out of my head, which is the whole reason why I've said I want to wait till the end of the season."

Or just sign now and it's done and dusted. I don't see him being their long tbh even if he signs a new deal.

Either Liverpool or United won't get CL football this year sparking some big players to move I think.

I think Sterling needs to be very careful about where he's playing his football next season. He just needs to look at what happened to promising talents like Jack Rodwell and Scott Sinclair when they moved to bigger clubs to win trophies. Admittedly he's a better player than they were, but as a young player he needs regular games and to be managed properly. As much as I don't like Rodgers, he's done a good job looking after Sterling and I don't think he'll get that anywhere else. His career could stall badly if he goes to a "bigger" club where he doesn't play as often.

TBH he can do what he wants. He was signed by Liverpool who at the time threw money at him - sure, they've been good for his development, but he's been a very good player for them and IF he's sold he'll make a lot of money for them, or if he 'just' milks some more money from Liverpool in terms of wages then that's merely him getting his market value.

It's not as though he's claiming absolute loyalty to Liverpool, etc - he's an employee and that's kinda refreshing. His priority is clearly himself, and what's wrong with that? Money will obviously be a factor, but for him I imagine it's a combination of money/the competitiveness of the team he's at/the chance of playing time and development/etc. It'd be retarded to slate him for that.

Maybe he could just not whore himself out on the media. Not very refreshing.

His agent is a tool if he thinks that interview was / is a good idea.

Also a tool if he thinks not getting his client signed on £100k a week is a good idea too. For what purpose?

Signing a 4 year deal @ £100k a week now is unlikely to mean he earns less over his career. He'd only be extending his contract by two years. Does he really think he'll make up 2 years of £65k a week by not signing?

Guys, why are the Dortmund fans throwing bananas at Neuer? I don't get it?

From 2012:

During Borussia Dortmund's title-deciding match against second-place Bayern Munich, the home fans sitting behind visiting goalkeeper Manuel Neuer heaved a steady stream of bananas at him. Though he tried to ignore it, even Neuer -- who used to play for Dortmund rivals Schalke -- couldn't help but smile at the odd scene (video here).

There have been a number of racial incidents where Russian fans have thrown bananas at black footballers this season, but this is slightly different. Neuer's banana storm was apparently a call back to when Dortmund fans used to give the same treatment to former Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn, who was nicknamed "Apeman" because he was "always in danger of tripping over his own hands" (video here).

So now the tradition continues with a new generation. But when Dotmund virtually sealed another Bundesliga title with a 77th minute goal from Robert Lewandowski and an 85th minute penalty miss from Bayern's Arjen Robben, the fans couldn't celebrate with a healthy dose of potassium because they already chucked all those bananas. Wasteful

Why is he a money grabber?

ever thought maybe he just doesn't want to be at Liverpool anymore and wants a move?

The hand in a transfer request... but of course that will screw any 'loyalty' bonus. His agent advising him to do that interview is right pillock. If his agent didn't advise him to that interview, then Sterling is a right pillock. Either way I can't see him at Liverpool beyond this season.

Ince and Defoe screwed West Ham over years ago and have both come out since and said they were badly advised. Ince actually screwed over by his agent to be fair.

If I was Sterling I wouild take a long hard look at who is handling his affairs.

If he wants out of Liverpool he needs to hand a request at the end of the season. If he doesn't he needs to come out and say that too and then shut the hell up.

How many Liverpool fans want him to stay now ? Genuine question.
