As in the topic subject...

My budget is probably £60 but preferably cheaper. I don't know anything about football boots. I'd like something with some arch support if possible. Cheers!

nobody can reccomend a pair for you, you have to see whats comfortable for you.

i used to wear my basketball trainers for playing on astro turf, everybody said buy astro turf boots, but i never bothered, until a few months ago. they were nike ones, and ive seen at least one professional footballer wear the studded version of them in the newspaper so they are decent ones. they felt terrible, i have better ball control and strikes with my basketball shoes, so my nike basketball trainers are better than my nike astro turf boots for me personally, and they feel 10 times better too, so i reverted back to my basketball trainers on monday

Thanks, I guess it's true that I can only really know if I try some pairs in the shop. Ideally I want something with cushioning, yes, and perhaps ones I can do some running in as well.

only your feet can decide my friend

It's not just this, there are so many cheap designed boots out there from big brands that just wreck your feet.

You get what you pay for in the end but just because a £10 pair of Umbro's feel nice on your feet doesn't mean your feet have chosen them!

i use a pair of Nike 5 FT11 for 5-a-side and another pair of nike 5's with astroturf sole for outside. custom made from nike:id :)

Thanks for the advice, lads.

I like the look of these because they're more like trainers with support etc:

As well as the Nikes. The mundials are out of my price range I reckon :(

Played again in my old nikes that are a size too small. I was a bit rubbish (too much running around, not playing tactically) - any advice on playing 5-a-side? I'm too used to playing on big pitches. I'm small and probably faster than anyone else on the pitch, but my control is pretty poor!

Well, control is a big factor in 5 a side, you need it to be top notch. You need to be quick minded too, 5 a side you don't have much time on the ball so you need to be able to lay off a quick pass, shot etc. Off the ball movement is the difference between a bad and good team though, if you have midfielders and one striker that have good off the ball and get into space quickly then your team should do well.

We're top of the league at the moment, going well :)

Run a lot, make a lot of space, don't be afraid to pass backwards, just keep the ball moving at a high tempo, obviously first touch is pretty important in that regard!

Well it's on again for next week and I've bought new boots, so we'll see how it goes. I think I tend to follow the ball too much rather than marking the space.

I actually bought a new pair last Friday after giving up with sliding and going on my arse constantly.

I used to have a pair of Total 90's until they bust around the edge. I then just wore my Puma Ducati Testastrettas for a while until the grip completely went and forced me to buy a new pair of astro-turfs.

Here's what I went for:

The Nike Mercurials.

They were on sale so got 'em for just £20 at JJB.

The white version were a lot less shiny looking but couldn't justify an extra tenner just for that.

They feel nice, good grip, good touch and great shot.

You dont choose the boots they choose you young Padawan ;)

Another vote for Copa Mundial like Andy. Got to say they are best boots I have had for soft ground and astroturf. Even if you pay over your budget they are worth it in my opinion

Whatever you do don't get any like those mundials with a HUGE rubber bit around the front. I find it effects touch and my shot.

Both Nike ones listed look good.

Hmm, it's not huge at all and never affected my performances, if anything I got better due to the sheer comfort of the boots. Also if you drag your other foot when going into tackles it preserves the boots for much longer, i do this a lot and wreck my boots.

Fair enough, set let me take a pic of my astros which i HATE to give you an idea of what i'm talking about.
