Football boots for astroturf 5-a-side - recommendations?

Those are very similar to the ones I have now. They give me an extremely clunky touch and the ball just doesn't feel comfortable at all.

I actually bought a new pair last Friday after giving up with sliding and going on my arse constantly.

I used to have a pair of Total 90's until they bust around the edge. I then just wore my Puma Ducati Testastrettas for a while until the grip completely went and forced me to buy a new pair of astro-turfs.

Here's what I went for:

The Nike Mercurials.

They were on sale so got 'em for just £20 at JJB.

The white version were a lot less shiny looking but couldn't justify an extra tenner just for that.

They feel nice, good grip, good touch and great shot.

hahahha these are the ones im complaining about in my original post above, i have the white and blue version, these are simply terrible, my basketball shoes are 10 times better, the control is really poor and so are the laces they come with, absolutely tiny, spent half the time re-tying my laces.

Haha! My touch isn't bad when I'm wearing my merrell trainers (but they make my shooting absolutely shocking).

My confidence is rubbish in these 5-a-side games because I'm playing with workmates that I don't know very well, so I'm afraid to take the game by the scruff of the neck and try and run at players etc. MY main asset is raw speed, although I'm a decent dribbler.

Damn, next Tuesday can't come soon enough. I have to redeem myself.

I have a pair of adidas telstars, unfortunately ive used them all of twice because the heel of the left shoe digs into my heel and basically cuts into the skin. Its pretty painful and has left scarring. I assume this can be better moulded somehow? Like take some boiling water to it and wear them in?

Would be a shame to have wasted 40quid and my backup pair just wore out

I got some new astros on Monday and went for these:

Nike T90 Shoot II Extra

Picked them up cheaper than that at my local sports shop and used them the same evening - they felt great and I'm really happy with them.

If you play indoors it might be worth getting a different pair again (although many people use their astros). I've got a pair of Samba's for indoor football which are superb!

Mine have given me a blister on the back of my left heel too but that's cause they're half a size too big and JJB don't do half sizes and a 10 was too small.

Wierd as 11s have always been perfect.

Yeah i bought my normal size 10s too, the same id use for normal adidas shoes and boots. First time ive ever had a problem and odd because my left foot is bigger than the right but the right shoe is completely fine

The laces are rubbish, I agree, but my touch and everything is fine with them.

personally i would not go for ANY of the new addidas and most of the new nike astro boots. they seem tacky and cheap.

The old total 90 III were my fave (untill they finaly gave up) i now have a paid of Puma V5.08 (might be V3.08?) these are perfect for me as i have a wide foot and they are extremely comfy. I also find the grip is fantastic and the have helped with my touch a fair bit too.

Just dont get any cheap old shoe cant be very damaging. I tore ligaments in my ankle and also got calcifacation due to a cheap pair of a certain brand boot.

Those look nice.

I played a game with my tiempos on tuesday. They pinched a little, but they wore in after about half an hour and now they fit perfectly. First touches are easier and I can definitely get more power into my strikes. They're sort of old fashioned looking compared to predators, mercurials etc, but they're a great no-nonsense boot.

I think I've owned 2 or 3 pairs of Nike ones over the years, and I've had to replace pretty much every pair after a few months due to either poor build quality or discomfort.

Those ones you've bought seem to have proper stitching around the toe area which is good - a lot of these new plasticy ones lack that.

They're leather as well and there's protection around the toe area, which is great for when I want to put my foot in.

I took them outside to a game at the park last night and they did well on grass. I've noticed that they have less "spring" to them than the Adidas when accelerating, but the other qualities make them a solid all round.
