Football Manager 2012

So basically you just want a win button?

Nope as I hardly ever win, infact some of my favourite careers have included multiple relegations/promotions... a real building of team history, rather than the 'super tactic' 5 seasons from Conference to Champions League Winners with Southport or something.

I just dont enjoy babysitting a game, especially as its supposed to replicate the game. So given the fact that FM now requires or can require you to tell Wayne Rooney how to shoot and when, or Frank Lampard how to pass and where to on the pitch... its a bit tedious.

You should be able to put Rooney up top in a United team on the game and be able to be competitive on all fronts (As they are irl) without having to molly-coddle it. FM has got a lot right, but its also going too far.. teamtalks for example, if you are winning and say the wrong thing.. bam morale drops...

Soon it will be:

Do you want a tea or coffee to start your day?

Tea

The next morning

Wayne Rooney has spoken to the press about how his managers like for Tea has upset him and he is now looking to move on.

Luckily for me (just) you can still strip out all the guff and play the game as basic as you want, which is what I do and I enjoy it that way. Once FM removes my way of playing, then ill stop being a customer.

2012 has just been announced:
Transfers & Contracts - significant changes to the transfer and contract systems, including loyalty bonuses, better implementation of amateur and youth contracts, an improved transfer centre and the ability to lock areas of the contract negotiation when you aren't prepared to budge. This helps you to manage your budgets and gives you flexibility in what you offer money hungry players, or agents, as incentives.

Scouting improvements - using several real life scouting reports, a new in-game report has been devised which includes squad analysis, tactics information and information about goals scored and conceded alongside lots of other scouting improvements, giving you all the information you need to prepare before kick-off and throughout the season.

3D Match Improvements - new animations, a whole new crowd system, improved weather system, more stadiums, plus two brand new cameras - "Behind Goal" and "Director Cam" as well as all other camera angles being reversible - meaning you can watch and analyse every aspect of every game.

Manage Anywhere, Anytime - the ability to add or take away playable nations in your saved game as often as you want. Manage in that country at the start of the next season- meaning you don't have to stay in the nations which are chosen by you to be playable at the start of your career.

Tone - a whole new level has been added to team talks and conversations, with the new tone system, which allows you to specify the way you want to say things - be as cool as a cucumber by saying things calmly or throw tea cups around by saying things with passion. There are 6 different tones to choose from with specific comments per tone.

Intelligent Interface - a new adaptive layout system, which means the higher your screen resolution, the more info is easily at your fingertips. The new interface also contains new filters, customisable columns, a new tactics screen, and lots of new overview screens.

Brand New Tutorial - standing separate from the main game, a mode to help new players find their way around the game easily, whilst also offering tips to experienced managers on how to get the most out of the game, as well as a new in-game "how to" system.

Transfers have needed overhauling for a few versions now, so that's good :)

The "Tone" thing sounds interesting, but the screenshots of it (showing a tab for each tone, with two or three different answers on each tab) just looks a bit fiddly. I would have imagined a set of answers and then the "tone" being some sort of modifier, rather than just taking a larger set of answers and categorising them by "tone".

There'll be plenty more new features and improvements revealed over the next couple of months, they never show off everything right away :)

Oh, and I wonder how the adaptable layout system would handle an Eyefinity setup!

For the first time since CM1 I've no interest in this years update.

It's been a great ride but I'm finally done with franchise. I'm not sure if it's me or whether the games lost it's way, I'd hazard a guess it's a bit of both.

It does seem like an update more than a new game which is upsetting but I will buy it because it is the only game that has given me that longevity I like.

Do you reckon they have a perfect game at SIGames but tone it down for us so they can release one next year as well?

Why don't you put attribute masking on then?

I still look at coach reports anyway Form > Stats

We've been through this before, quickest way to kill Football Manager!!! :p (real life stat management would be cool though)

Ah most games like this are always just an update with new ideas to see if they work or not. This time last year we were all worried agents would make no sense or something (and they still don't as much) or the year before when they added something silly to 10 (can't remember what) or the day it came to 3d...

Basically its a bit shifty always releasing a new one every year (even if partly its a transfer/player update) but 500-1000 hours game play for £30 is hardly unreasonable...

Oh also I vote for an "******Ultimate Football Manager 12*******" thread as this one can not be official given its last of starts (or Ultimate)

PSG (Qatar Investment Authority bought a controlling 70% stake in the club)
Malaga CF (Also Qatari Investment)
Getafe (Royal Emirates Group)

Just like England lots of shady investment groups!!!

Agents on the game are a nightmare!!

I still don't like the fact that some 16 yr olds tell me they wont goto a certain club on loan because it is basically beneath them and the way you can't buy a player and loan him straight to a feeder club or buy a player in two years so you can leave him at said club and let him progress there.

Can't be doing with all the press conferences and training... would rather it was all removed or at least as an option to disable it before you started your season.

I like it simple, buy and sell players, pick your formation, even sign a couple of coaches and scouts. USM '98 was the pinnacle of football management

You could customise your stadium and shops/stalls outside!!

Fifa Manager is like that with Stadiums, shops and stuff, like Premier manager meets SimCity! Not a bad game at all really.

I wish you could buy an assistant or head coach and they just say "I'm bringing in so and so as he will be a good attacking coach and we need this to improve so and so"

It is sometimes too in depth and if you just put everything to your assistant manager it demoralises your team after a while.
