Football *Spoilers* 8th-9th March

Too early to dub Alves the new Maccarone? ;):p

In fairness, Maccarone never played from the start and was a decent player. He pulled them out the **** several times in the UEFA cup. He also ran Spurs ragged when Middlesbrough beat them 5-1 where his movement was immense.

Alves' record speaks for itself and he looks a good player, great touch, powerful shot and looks to score. Put him in a more attacking side (Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal/Spurs) and he'd look great.

weve been attacking all season , missing chances for fun . since alves has signed i dont think weve had one decent chance though :/ ive hardly even seen him with the ball

Aye, maybe a little bit harsh saying that so soon.

Maccarone seems to be doing alright at Siena now, think he's averaging a goal every 3 games-ish.

I watched a YouTube compilation of Alves' goals for Herenveen, my god he looked different class in every department.

He will probably come good in time :)

nope :(

dont think alves is fully fit either , he certainly wont last the full match . wonder how long till he gets hooked on parmos like most our other strikers have done at some point

Can't see Middlesbrough coming back from 2-0 down. Their half-time team talk probably consists of a cup of tea and a chat about how they're doing themselves proud. They need a kicking and Southgate isn't the type of manager to give it to them.

Need Boateng on too, he'll give them a lift with his influence, energy.

Boateng is rubbish, I'd rather stick with Arca and Rochemback. Boateng was quite easily the worst player on the pitch against Sheffield United. No pace, lost his strength, can't pass and he's clumsy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him though, something has to change and Middlesbrough have no strength in depth.
Tuncay into Midfield with Mido up-top with Alves is a possibility. Tuncay on the right and O'Neil into the middle. But harsh that Grounds was replaced with Pogatetz for this game too, I don't think Grounds would have left his man like 'Mad Dog'.
