Been out of training for 2 or 3 months now, and now I'm at uni I want to get back into it.

Did the ripptoes workout for a bit but want to move onto something else now, anyone had decent results with a 3 day routine for wanting to put on mass?

I still live at home with the parents however as soon as I move out I'll be viewing houses on the basis of a spare room downstairs to load some weights in.

How much have you spent Wardie? (Apologies if this has been covered before).

About £500.

Bench
Weights
Bars/Dumbbells
Power rack

Not as expensive as I thought.. Was everything brand new or did you pick up weights 2nd hand?

Off to the gym at 1pm today, hopefully it'll be pretty quiet so I can get stuck in to these deadlifts.

Brand new, it really isn't that expensive when you think how long it will last you.

Then you get the obvious benefits of working out at home, you don't have to travel to the gym, you can pick your own music, you don't have to wait about for free equipment etc.

This Powertec one, comes with dipping bars and a chin up bar. It's out of stock there though so had to order with Fitness Superstore.

I had to pay en extra £10 from Fitness Superstore, but I still can't argue with the price.

Looking foward to it coming though :D

should be a treat m8, much as i love my rack i cant help but think those cages are the dogs, especially as you can easy add a lat or cable system to them (i would give my hind teeth for a cable cage, droool!)

Had a strange pain last night when doing not even heavy dumbbell shoulder presses. It was in my side , quite a bit below my armpit. Got it when lowering the weight not pressing it.

Stopped pretty much straight away, it was more of an awkward feeling that a pain. Will see how it is on Friday.

Hey guys,

Ive come to join you gym rats in the art of mass/bodybuilding
So about 2 weeks ago ive decided to get mass building and dusted off my york dumbells. Every other night now ive been doing sets of curls and doing lots of press ups before bed. I then started doing different types of lifting such as dumbell presses and dumbell rowing. I do about 2 sets of 10 on each type of lift followed by 50 press ups then bed :).

Ive now started looking at additives to help increase my mass so today i popped into boots and bought 4 maximuscle protein bars to use after my night time workout:).

I have a few questions...

Is maximuscle a good brand to use when it comes to protein/creatine products etc?

What would you say about adding protein shakes into my diet, yay or nay?

What other kind of lifts/exercises should i be doing to help me build muscle??

I have access to a david lloyds gym btw ;)

Thankyou

first up, stop spending money on maximuscle, especially protein bars! terrible prices.

get in the gym and start a proper routine, then hit the kitchen and start eating properly.

have a look at gordyr's sticky at the top of the forum for a good read :]

What would you reccomend as an alternative brand to use then for protein/creatine products?

i wouldnt recommend anything without seeing what your current diet is like.
though im guessing a shake wouldnt be out of place post workout at the moment.
