For those who doesn't have a screen protector on their iPhone or Touch...

I have had mine since November the 1st and it spends all its time in my pocket, and not a single scratch on the screen. It is handy though to wipe it down once a week or so just to remove any fingerprints and make it look half decent. :)

Do you keep keys and change in the same pocket too ?

I had an invisible shield on mine, but after a month of so the ends starting coming up and collecting dust. Making my iPhone look awful.

Taken it off, it feels nicer and so far hasn't been scratched (2-3 weeks!).

I think simply being sensible and not keeping it in the same pocket as your keys / coins and not chucking it down helps.

For ages my iPhone 2G lived fred of case or screen protector and the screen never scratched. Oh and it spent plenty of time in my pockets with keys.

Now it has broke when a sharp force was applied. My next one will have a case. No screen protector though.

mine has no case or screen protector and gets all kinds of abuse (keys in pockets mainly) and its been fine so far beyond a few minor scuffs on the back

In all honesty i'll upgrade after 18 months and bin this one so I don't really care about the cosmetic condition of it to be honest. It serves a purpose, I have no intention to sell it 2nd hand, so don't really care how battered it gets and treat it accordingly. However, it has proven more hardy that I was expecting which is a good sign.

Ive had mine about 6 months ish and no protector i have 3 noticable scratches on it and a bit of dirt is now under the screen its very annoying

if i did care a lot about it and bought it new than i would definintly buy a screen protector for a tenner.

But yeah the scratch proof is clearly not true i have many little scratches too and dont keep it in a pocket with keys and change. :/

Got the same Hardce backing on my Touch 2G as you have on your iPhone and no screen protector, had it since the day of release and not a single scratch on the screen.

I try not to keep coins in the same pocket but have done a few times without any issues.

my touch has been in the pocket with all sorts and the screen has no blemishes at all.
the back however is a different story... lol

I took my ZAGG shield off as i looked at my girlfriends (she got hers the same time as mine, release day, and hasn't used a screen protector) and it was still perfect. She just throws hers in her bag with keys etc. As i far prefer the feel of using the screen without the sheild on it i just took mine off, and it's been scratchfree so far. I wouldn't waste my money again.

I've not had any issues, it's in the bottom of my gym bag sometimes with keys, the back is slightly scratched, but that's it, nothing on the screen.

I won't purchase a protector either, this is why I took out Insurance. If it does get scratched to hell, I'm sure it would "break" at some point and I'd get a new one ;)

Had mine since Christmas 06 and the back is totally mangled and scratched, but the screen is perfect. Never used a screen protector or anything.

I bought a protector for the back and havent bothered with the screen protector.

Realistically the only that is going to scratch it is glass or metal, so just as long as it is kept away from keys and spare change then it is fine.
I recently spent a while sorting my pockets and stuff, so I keep all change in wallet (with keys) and the phone sits in a pocket of its own.

If you are that worried though then by a leather case (the exec ones), they look nice and will keep it safe.

Same as mine. 2G about 6 months old. In pocket with wallet, keys, headphones. Not a blemish on the front. Back is a mess.

As a person who spends a lot on invis shields or bodyguardz skins (latter being better imo) I'm quite surprised that an unprotected screen on most of your phones has lasted so well. I recently applied a new (and last remaining) bodyguardz skin to my phone and re-ordered a new set as spare. Doh!

Yeah no issues with the screen here. The back gets lots of micro scratches but thats pretty unavoidable unless you are crazy careful.
