For those who doesn't have a screen protector on their iPhone or Touch...

I got a leather (book style) case with a screen protector but I cut it out as it ruins the feel of the screen. Not scratched at all so far.

had mine about 2 months. small scratches on the screen but that was about the day after i was putting grit down. not too bothered tbh, can't really see it when the screen is on.
it's usually in my pocket on its own. the back isn't scratched, just the screen. it's hard to scratch it as it's glass but things like grit and sand probably will scratch it.

Had my 3g since release day with no screen protector.

I keep it in various pockets, usually my back one unless I'm driving, but I don't really think about it, so it's been in the same pocket as cash and keys. I also chuck it in the top pocket of my bag when I'm running work work and there is loads of rubbish in there, like a small steel torch, swiss army knife, cuff-links, etc.

There's not a scratch on it to day, although I'm probably tempting fate by posting this.

Had a Zagg shield on the front of mine (touch), but some mosquito spray melted it!!!
So I took it off and have lived without it, I got one small deep scratch on it at the top of the glass from when I put my phone on top of it, then picked them up together, and moved the phone across the surface, my phone is made of stainless steel and an edge of the battery plate scratched it slightly, made a horrible noise too.
But other than that, I've had no problems, besides the back scratching in about 5mins of owning it (the old chrome look one), but I got a Zagg shield on there now :D

Had my iPhone 3G since July 08, the plastic on the back has the usual scratches but the screen is flawless. No protection, just in my pocket, I don't see the point of adding a case that bulks it up, it's fairly large already and I'd rather have a nice looking phone rather than some case on it.

Course not, just asking for trouble there.:)

Thing is that i use it with the ipod headphones with the remote, i find that the mesh on the headphones scratches, it has scratched the back of my ipod, and the screen protector on my touch and iPhone. Therefore I know it'll be a risk to put it with the iPhone without a protector, unless the screen really is scratch proof where it can survive keys and coins.

No scratches but a very small chip in one corner.
I did drop it on a treadmill, after which it was thrown face down across a concrete floor.

Pretty good considering - no protection here! :)

Well I put it inmy pocket with my own Sony earphones, due to my odd shaped ears where standard earphones don't sit in, constantly falling out. I have on the odd occasion I have put my keys in there which may be the cause of the slight scratching on the back. But for general use its fingerprints and normal muck and grime that gets on the screen is all that affects me. Quick wipe with the provided cloth and all is well. :)

Just wanted to mention that it can be scratched!

Stupidly at work i ran the edge of my sandisk 2gb memory stick along the screen, just to see if i could manually scratch it. Needless to say, it went all the way through the screen and couldnt be removed.

I know 99% of the time it will be fine, but its absolutely devastating when it happens. So much so i had to go out and buy myself another! :o

I have an Incase Rubber case (covers the back), and the front is left "exposed" to the harsh environment of my pockets.

Not a mark on the screen, and it's a very slim case :)

Would never use an invisible screen protector. Only gays use those!

My 2G which I've had since April 08 with no protection has 2 small scratches on it, but they're barely noticeable unless I specifically look for them.

The back, however, has a few dents where I've dropped it a few times from waist-height onto a tarmac car park.

However, I rarely have it in my pocket with anything else, but I don't exactly wrap it in cotton wool - I've used it with dirty/wet hands, including when doing building work and my hands covered in concrete, and when working on the car and my hands covered in various types of oil, grease and muck!

Certainly the most hard-wearing of any phone I've ever, ever owned!

Screen had a couple of scratches, 1 is quite deep about 7mm across and another one. I also have a few dots on the screen.

Dunno how it happened as my phone is always in my pocket on it's own. Unless it has happened when it has slide out my pocket onto my kitchen floor from about 12 inches up when i was crouched down.
