Going well so far... I've managed to break my computer once, twist a load of cables all round but still not got the update... T-Mobile and Omnia 7.

Looks like I'm going to have to wait weeks for T-mobile to get their act together... Again...

Always up to date or can't check for updates right now.

Omnia 7 on T-mobile, looks like I'll have to play the waiting game.

When you update does everything stay (messages/contacts/history etc) or does it have to be backed up somewhere first? Sorry if it's a daft question but in my head I keep thinking it's a hard reset.

Everything is backed up and then restored after the update
You can speed up the update by removing apps, as they are backed up as well.

T-mobile haven't released the update yet so I'm guessing we won't be able to use this method until its started rolling out. I'm going to look into debranding mine as this will probably happen in the future as well. I think debranding means you get the generic rom as soon as it's released.

Well it took 4 hours, but finally updated my phone and it looks like it's auto-mango'ed itself

Can't believe how much faster the phone feels!
