Forced to eat humble pie - The Witcher

Don't touch 1.3 with a bargepole. It adds nothing significant and isn't very compatible with saves from 1.2. Just wait for the enhanced patch arriving sometime in May apparently.

Ta.. Was going to start again as I wasn't very far in anyway so save game compatibilty isn't a problem for me.

Whats the enhanced patch? Think I'll play through NWN2 until the next patch for this comes out! :)

One of the most enjoyable RPG games i have played, its hard to find decent RPG games that are not turn based

Effectively it is turn-based, it's just reasonably good at hiding it. Why do you think each fighting combo can't be interrupted without penalty? It's a basic RPG with most of the RPG elements stripped out and a fancy front end bolted on. That's it. Oh, and you can sleep with tarts.

I too found it greatly enjoyable, except I was always conscious that too many quests required me to become a messenger boy. Go here, get that, come back and do it again.

I really, really liked the bits where the story progressed or I was made to fight a heavy weight character.

***Spoiler***

The ending to being linear completely was actually quite good because the scale was impressive and the messenger quests were somewhat reduced.

***Spoiler end***

Agree with you about the A -> B delivery style quests. They get a bit annoying but for some reason I wasn't bothered with them. I guess I'm used to them because I've played so many mmorpgs in the past. I'm on the last level (manor) now and it's getting really epic. Had a good laugh with the striga though :)

didn't have any problems playing it on Vista, and this was back in Dec before any patches.

Anyway a good game worth the detour.

Only regret is that you can't travel back between sections to finish a couple of quests , which I did not finish before inadvertantly triggering next level. I won't be going back to saved games to do them, it wasn't that good ;). Oh well win some lose some.
