Forceware 162.15 Beta

On the plus side, dx9 performance seems much better.

can now run Quake 4 with 16 x AA and Vsync without a problem, and running multiplayer F.E.A.R maxed out with vsync it hardly ever drops below 50 with loads of stuff happening on-screen.

Think I will need to go back to my previous drivers though. which is a pity as fan control, OCing, and DV finally working.

why does vistas performance still suck so much though. I am getting that with a gtx oc and only a dual core.

vista is a completly new driver model so its like a rewrite from scratch. given time vista drivers should speed up to about 1-3% off of xp speed.

000Oooooo, can anyone post some benchmarks of stalker, dirt, Lost planet, CoJ, CoJ DX10 and Lost Planet DX10 on previouse drivers and these?

I'll do some tommorow aswell but its getting late now.

got 35 points more on 3dmark 06 (10065) on vista...still not bad

I think graphics performace is same as XP its the CPU performace that lets it down. I get 300 points more on XP

Source Stress Test on 158.45 (Vista 32) (16xCSAA / 16xAF / 1680x1050)
148.19fps

Source Stress Test on 162.15 (Vista 32) (16xCSAA / 16xAF / 1680x1050)
136.02fps

STALKER is running at a minimum average of 40fps now (1680x1050) but mainly in the 50fps range - very nice! this is with full dynamic lighting on too and the other settings above the half way mark - previously was getting 15-20 fps :p

Will keep these installed for the time being and play some BF2142 tomorrow night.

There is a weird shadow bug though in STALKER that has been present on all the Vista drivers I have tried and no amount of adjusting shadow quality fixes it, see here for a video on the problem:

Oh yeah, while it allowed you to change clocks and fan settings, it would not save the settings.

I have removed these and put the 165.04 ones one, with Rivatuner for OC and fan control.

Getting pretty tired with the state of these drivers now. And I am not talking about performance, but all the small things that simply don't work.

They have had long enough now to sort all these problems out.

Such a pity. A wonderful piece of hardware is being let down so much by the drivers. The 2900xt just doesn't appeal to me though. So stuck between a rock and a hard place.
