Bugger that grabbing Riva then having to fanny about setting profile, would take to long, was well loud, got the ***** off as soon as desktop loaded, ill stick to me working 169.09 beta's.

You dont need to set profiles, im guessing if the fan is stuck to 100% then the fan will be on the "Fixed" option in Rivatuner. Try getting it and setting it to "Auto" or set it at 60% or something.

couldn't even work out how to install riva tuner with that stupid driver signing and did what other said and it never worked properly so i gave up. Cant be bothered faffing around with that. Use the gainward expert tool instead it has a fan control on it and may sort out your problem.
Im waiting for vista 64bit drivers to. i wonder if this will help solve some problems... come to think of it i need to start up a thread about them! lol.

Takes to long for me desktop to load fully, i can't stand the noise, by the time its on i have to get the ***** off.

all i did was go in set the 3d ran to 60 and then set it back to auto and it now runs at 60 all the time. that was until i restarted my system
