Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone here knows about visas or, well... general information regarding foreigners working in the UK.

My Polish girlfriend is studying in Madrid doing an undergraduate degree and she wants to come over for the summer and work here for a few months.

Is this possible? It must be! Have you been to London, it's like being in Poland/Hungary/Bulgaria :D

Cheers :)

It's within the EU so no Visa required, travel and work is free across all EU borders I think. I'm no expert though, the answer is only a phonecall away!

tell her to just ring anyone she wants to work for and they'll instantly take her on, on the grounds that all polish people work harder than anyone in this country for less money..

tell her to bring the whole country and her government..

we're all replaceable, i welcome our new overlords..

im sure you wont mind the rest of us Britains living on benefit while you go out to work for us..

surely your GF knows this already... I mean she knows her country is in the EU and she's already studying at a university in another EU country (I mean students tend to work part time too)

This

That's the problem with this county. Come and work for a few months tax free and do a runner with the cash instead of spending it here.

Yawn.

Damn foreigners. Take take take.

If they earn their money, then they can do as they please with it (same as you). You forget that the work they undertake helps this country in the first place.

 how did we cope before? :o oh yeah, millions was not unemployed?

I would imagine it's nice for most people here, living in very nice areas, and having great jobs. But down the ladder things are not so nice.

Take my work for example, over the past few years we have seen a massive increase in foreign lorry drivers that can hardly speak English (If at all in most cases, which makes things very hard).

And the warehouse (Pickers in this case) most are now foreigners from agency's. Now these are ok payed jobs (23k a year for a picker) and plenty of English people would do it, so we are not talking jobs the brits would not do here.

Oh and just to add, the agency we use is called "Industria" and is mainly for all the foreigners to sign up and is slightly cheaper (But saves the company a couple of quid, not a lot mind). And we have plenty of brits coming to my gate asking if we have any jobs going.

I just hope my children do well in school and uni etc. else as things are for none skilled jobs they will be screwed (Even semi-skilled like lorry drivers are having a tough time getting jobs)

Same with jobs like...

Taxi drivers.
Car washes.
Warehouse workers.
Builders.
Decorators.
Gardner's.
Kitchen fitters.
Plumbers.
Plasters.

Not exactly bottom of the pile jobs that natives do not want is it.

And lets not get started on how rubbish our borders are, the amount of illegals we get on the back of our loads from France is shocking.

How

So foreign people do work they get paid and send the money in another country and that helps this country does it?

Everybody sends their wages back "home" anyway.

The amount of shops round here where one can wire transfer ones money to the middle east is amazing. I count 4 on one main road close to here.

The amount of money earned here is probably worth tripple or more over there. It is their money so they can do whatever they want with it, that is a persons right. But when hundreds of thousands of workers are sending a large chunk of their wage overseas, it really cant help matters, can it.

example:

lorry driver makes 200.000 per year for the company he works, he is reward with 20K for this. 180K were pumped into the company which is british, taxes , vat, insurance all went into british economy not the Egyptian for example.

dont forget his daily expenses, no matter how large or small these are
