format a HDD ?

You can either pop it into another machine and format it, or format it as you do the windows install.
before it starts to copy the files over (during windows setup) it will ask you what do you want to do.
it will ask you where you want to install Windows. At that moment you can format the drive, create partitions, delete existing partitions etc.
or just do nothing \o/

if your using vista then go to the search option and then type computer and you will have to options come up.
the one you need is computer management and then you need disk management.
it should show you your hard drives install on your pc.
the rest is pretty easy.

If you boot from the Windows DVD it will format the drive during the setup, there should be no need to format before.

Hi All can anyone tell me if you have to format a brand new HDD drive before loading windows on , if so how do u do this ?
yes you do need to format it as it wont come with any partitions when you buy it... but dont worry because windows does it for you when you're installing
