Format /delete partions in HDD

go to search on your start menu.

type in "computer management"

then click on disk management and it will show you your hard drives.

in there it will allow you to format or erase a partition.

Sorry, I should have said I am using XP.

So very similar, just different to get started, click start, right click 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'. From Computer Management, select Storage/Disk Management. Now you will see a map of your discs. You can delete partitions from here. Make sure you select the right partitions. There is no way back.

If that doesn't work for you, download a live cd version of g-parted. Boot from the CD and you can delete partitions and create new on es using this tool.
