Formula 1: Refuelling to return in 2017

I disagree. The whole 'show' of F1 is FOMs remit. They have to make sure the races are exciting to watch so should have a say in the rules.

Are we then admitting that this is no longer a sport and instead is merely an incredibly expensive TV show? ;)

Well none of the money the teams seem so desperate to need so much of comes from the FIA so... Yeah pretty much.

Unlike a lot of Motorsport that can survive with a handful of fans on track and a writeup in Autosport, F1 couldn't exist without the money FOM makes. So while not purely entertainment, the 'show' is a very key part of the series.

Should get rid of the 100kg limit, but limit the tank size to 30kg (or less). That way they pit twice and have to save fuel or pit three times (<120kg) and can push harder?

I like the idea of refuelling as a premise for reducing fuel saving, but as said, it does not help with the racing.

How about having an extra standardised ERS system in the car, and if you go for a pit stop, it then unlocks 5-10 green flag laps of say 100bhp extra? I guess a bit like fan boost in Formula-E.
You then have to make a decision on the lost time versus new tyres and a faster car.
Whether you mandate the extra power to only happen on the second pit stop onwards, or whether any pit stop gets it, that needs to be tested.

It would also allow Bernie to satisfy his Mario Kart ideas he seems to like :D
