OK, well I now have valid work units and the server still isn't giving me any more work units than my core count. The event log says that I have reached my limit on tasks in progress regardless of my cache settings. I'll wait now to see when my machines become 'trusted' and see if that makes any difference.

I'm having issues with my PC and the power options. Something keeps switching it to balanced and then it hibernates. I thought it was some ASUS software but I binned it off and it keeps happening.

Check your 'power options'.
Edit: sorry re-read, no idea what's changing it, just try editing the balance setting.

Next FB sprint is the same time as the pentathlon one, makes sense for them to be the same project.

so its been running for 22 hours now and im quite impressed with its output on universe@home. I think I knocked the hdd aswell and it froze for a few hours before aswell , only noticed when I was in shed and I hooked a monitor up to make sure everything was ok.

Those runtimes are awesome! currently your machine is doing over 250K PPD!
I have noticed that Universe runtimes vary greatly tho yours seem to be quite consistent.

Same here, it was the first BOINC project I tried and I've not tried it since.

The top computers seem to run the latest Nvidia cards (which I have none of ) and all are anonymous platform.

Optismised apps, I've not tried any of them.

Installed lunatics opt app and then my AMD work units ran 3 x slower.

I have to say i'm not that enthusiastic about this one.

You'll be better off just running the lasievef & lasievef work units, they pay much better due to the memory requirements (1GB per work unit) which you'll comfortably do as you have 2 gigs available per core on your 5960X
